I knew planning a wedding would be difficult. With so many things to get organised, deposits to pay, research to be done and a ridiculous amount of ideas flying around my head, it’s hard to stay focused. I’ve found planning and keeping track of everything has really helped and since a lot has been done recently, I thought a wedding update was due.
SAVE THE DATES
Our Save The Dates were sent out in February and we are now working on our Invites. We decided as of two days ago to completely change the stationery for the rest of the wedding so I’ve ordered samples to check them before we order the actual invites. Once everything is ordered, invites, menus, Order of Service etc I will write an entire post on which stationery company I used and why I chose them. You’ll also see exactly what we chose in the end.
I found the flower girls’ dress before I I found anything else. I won’t be showing them as I do want everything to be a surprise but I got them from Monsoon. It’s such a great place for wedding attire, whether it’s a bridesmaid, mother of the bride or flower girls, there are so many options. We are having a try-on session with the girls soon to make sure they fit but I won’t buy their shoes until a month before. The dresses are perfect, they are going to look so adorable.
I was so shocked to find my dress at the first shop I tried. My best friend bought me a wedding magazine and inside I saw this beautiful wedding dress, I couldn’t stop looking at it or thinking about it so I decided that would be my first stop. I booked in with the store a couple of weeks ago and they knew I was there for a certain dress but I picked out others as well, just to try on most styles and then I could really eliminate what I didn’t like.
I tried “the dress” on first and knew instantly, I felt like a princess and I didn’t want to take it off. I tried on others and came to a second dress that was a serious contender. I then tried my one on again and before we had finished it off with shoes and a veil I just knew, I felt so amazing in it and I knew that if I did go to other stores I would only confuse myself so I put a deposit down there and then.
I am so nervous about what everyone will think, especially Brent obviously. The Bridal party all agreed it was “The One” so I’m sure they wouldn’t have let me choose a dress that makes me look like a twat. Here’s hoping anyway.
We found our cake maker back in February. I had originally found someone else to have a consultation with but when booking our time for a consultation, all communication ceased. One day I was just browsing Instagram and discovered Egg & Moo’s and knew that I wanted Abbie to make my cake. Her style was exactly what I was after and upon meeting her at our consultation I am so glad I found her store. She is so welcoming and lovely and after looking at a couple of photos in my wedding planner, she knew my style instantly. We have fully designed our cake, flavours, decoration everything and I can not wait to see it on the big day, I know it will be so beautiful.
HAIR & MAKEUP ARTIST
I have booked in with a hair and makeup artist, I found her through another bloggers wedding and from her instagram it looks as though she has worked with a couple of bloggers, she’s also local to me. I like that she can do anything, any hair style and makeup style, she looks great. I will be booking in a trial with her a couple of months before the wedding which is very exciting.
I knew who my photographer would be about four years ago, Naomi Barker Photography . I went to school with Naomi and when I found out she was a wedding photographer I didn’t want anyone else, I have been waiting years to finally be able to message her! Luckily she was still available and I can’t wait to spend my day with her. I’m not the most confident infront of the camera and having someone I know and who I know is lovely around me will really help me relax.
We have a meeting with a florist on Saturday, we’ve had a couple of issues with our consultation but hopefully it will go well as the style is everything I have imagined. Other than the above, everything else can be done in a couple of months time. For now we have lots of saving to do to pay off bills before the due dates and still some researching for other things.
PIN IT!I made my own finance tracker so I can keep track of due dates and finally bills and my Blush & Gold wedding planner is so useful. Being able to keep all my ideas, inspiration and information in one place has been a lifesaver. I would recommend this planner to anyone and I love how it’s like a scrap book, pieces of paper everywhere, ribbon samples, business cards, it’s a brilliant planner. I haven’t used my Kate Spade wedding planner once and had I not written on one page, I would have sold it!
