When it comes to luxury makeup I have dabbled with a couple of products from different brands, Chanel, YSL, Dior and Hourglass and I would absolutely love to always buy from the higher end of the beauty spectrum however it’s not always possible. When I found out I had won the Givenchy Prisme Visage* from an Instagram giveaway held by Escentual I was so excited, something else to add to my luxury beauty collection and from a brand I have never tried before.
When I think of Givenchy I see their beautiful handbags, a classy sophisticated brand that I have always wanted to try, it’s brilliant that Escentual stock their beauty products and I still can’t believe that I was one of the winners. This review should have gone live a long time ago however I was just too scared to use it!
The palette is so beautiful and luxurious I just couldn’t face making a dent in the powders. Sounds incredibly silly but I think most beauty lovers feel the pain of that first swipe on a pretty product. The packaging is just perfect, sleek and simple and the embossing of Givenchy is such a lovely touch. The brush that comes within the compact is amazing quality and is actually brilliant, it applies the powders so well. All too often a compact or palette will include it’s own brush/applicator and it’s not very often that they are actually good so it’s a great addition to the product.
Givenchy Prisme Visage comes in seven different shades, all featuring four different shades. I chose the shade Satin Ivoire as I thought it would compliment my complexion the best. It contains a white powder, a slightly pink shade and two darker bronze shades, one slightly darker than the other. On the box it shows you where you can apply each powder or you can use them all swirled together.
Givenchy recommends using all fours shades to unify and matte the skin, the white shade to brighten and the bottom two shades to add structure, this is when the brush comes in handy as it’s the perfect shape to sculpt and add definition under the cheekbones.
I personally love to use the white shade under my eyes to set my concealer and brighten everything up. These powders are so fine and soft therefore it doesn’t cause creasing under the eyes at all. I then use all the other three shades together to set the rest of my face. It just mattes everything down and doesn’t leave me with any strange patches of different colours, it does in fact unify my complexion and make it appear even. It such such a beautiful finish to it, it’s so hard to explain but it leaves my skin still able to breath while providing a slightly matte finish.
As you can see from the swatches, the colours are just pigmented enough to pick up on camera and the shades are a perfect match for my skintone. The powders contain light-diffusing pigments and pearlescent particles that leave the skin looking healthy and glowing. On my skin it lasts all day, my makeup doesn’t move and it doesn’t settle in my dry patches, my skin can still breathe. There is a slight scent to this palette however it’s very subtle and I personally love it however if you’re not usually a fan of fragrances in your makeup just be warned.
I think it’s pretty clear that I adore this powder, it’s honestly the best powder I have ever used. For £34.50 I think it’s so reasonably priced as I expected it to be somewhere in the £40 price zone. I would happily purchase this once I have used this all up, it’s a brilliant product that deserves a lot more hype and more people need to be using it.
Have you tried any makeup from Givenchy? What’s your favourite high-end product?
