Pregnancy – Weeks 13 – 16

Today marks 16 weeks, 4 months along! It sounds so far already but it’s going really slowly. Only 4 more weeks until I’m half way though, which is just crazy. Nothing has happened appointment wise. I have my second midwife appointment on June 19th which is my 16-18 weeks check-up and my second scan on July 7th, hopefully at this scan they will be able to tell us the gender, so exciting.

My sickness was still a bit ropey until about 14 weeks but since then, I’m totally back to normal which is great. No sickness at all and I’m eating anything and everything again. My appetite had shrunk but now I’m eating like I used to. In my regular weekly emails I get from Mothercare and Emma’s Diary telling me about my weekly progression, they have all said I should have put on 5lbs by now but I’ve only put 1 on due to sickness. I’ve always struggled with putting weight on and it’s infuriating when you know you need to but can’t. I’m a little worried that the baby isn’t get the nutrients it needs if I’m not putting enough on but it’s early days yet, I might start suddenly piling on the pounds.

I was worried I didn’t have a bump but I have the very first sightings of one now. Ever so slight but it’s there! I can’t wait to have a proper bump, it’s going to be amazing. My friend Dani said I should be feeling flutters soon which is going to be so weird but also incredible!

16 Weeks

How far along? 16 weeks

Total weight gain: 1lb. Since 6 weeks I’ve lost 6lbs due to sickness and so far I’ve only managed to put 1lb back on.

Maternity clothes? I’ve bought one top ready for the bump but my jeans were getting so tight and every time I  sat down it was super uncomfortable so I bought some Topshop Leigh jeans in the maternity style. I hope to do some maternity outfit posts soon.

Cravings? Still only want white bread for my sandwiches but otherwise no other cravings.

Stretch marks? No.

Best moments this week? When I finally noticed a teeny tiny bump. It’s so small and I was convinced it was just my normal body shape but I’ve realised it’s actually the start of a bump now.

Miss anything? Pepperoni! Miss eating these so much, having it on pizza….yum! Also I miss pâté, loved ordering pâté for any meal out.

Movement? None just yet.

Anything making you queasy or sick? Nope.

Gender? Don’t know.

Labour signs? No.

Symptoms? Constantly need the toilet, it’s so frustrating, especially at nighttime. Embarrassing as it is, I keep getting bad indigestion and wind. One night I woke up with really bad heartburn, it was horrible and kept me awake for a good hour. I used to suffer before I was pregnant and a Doctor has told me before that I will suffer badly during pregnancy so I was expecting it, it’s just so uncomfortable. Also keep waking up with migraines, I had two last week, one was making me nauseous too.

Sleep? Restless. Keep waking up in the middle of the night for at least an hour, sometimes more. And I generally wake up from 4am – 6am and just lie there. I can function pretty well with not a lot of sleep, certainly will come in handy once the baby arrives.

Belly button in or out? In.

Happy or moody most of the time? Mostly happy, definitely. Since my sickness has passed I’m so much better.

Looking forward to? Feeling the first flutters and finding out the gender on July 7th. So exciting!

Although I’ve had a lot of worrying in the past couple of weeks, especially last week, I was convinced something was wrong again and wanted to book into a private scan, the pregnancy is going pretty well, plain sailing really. If we can’t find out the gender at our next scan or I get worried again, we are going to book in for a private scan. I’ve found a local clinic and it’s nice knowing I have somewhere to go if I’m worried. If you missed my first update, you can read all about it here – Pregnancy – Weeks 1 – 13.

Lots of love
