Avéne is a brand that I have really fallen in love with. After trying some of their products through a “Try before you by” scheme (blog post about that here) I knew that I wanted to try more of their products properly. I have five of their products in full size now and when I saw a tweet from Escentual asking if any bloggers would like to try the Avéne Soothing Hydrating Serum* I responded straight away. A quick note on the packaging, it comes in a lovely frosted glass bottle with a pump for easily dispensing, it’s compact and small and also it is glass, it’s not too heavy to carry around. *Thumbs up*
You apply serums before your chosen moisturiser as they are made to work at the base layers of the skin by helping to treat the new cells. They also help boost the benefits of your skincare. As written about in my first instalment of Splurge VS Save, splurging more on a serum is more beneficial than splurging on a moisturiser. £17.00 isn’t a huge splurge compared to some prices however the ingredients are what make this serum worth trying.
Avéne Soothing Hydrating Serum actually contains their amazing Avéne Thermal Spring Water which creates an instant calming effect for skin, and mixed in with some Glycerine for hydrating properties and comfort, you really are set up for smooth soft skin. Now after all my rambling, does this serum work? And does it help my skin?
I never really thought my skin suffered from redness, silly I know but until I started using Avéne products properly, it was only then that I noticed my skin looked more calm. I’ve been using this product for 2 weeks morning and night without fail and I have really noticed a difference. After removing my make-up fully, I start by spraying the Avéne Thermal Spring Water all over my face, let it settle and then pat it into my skin. I then apply a pumps worth of this serum all over my face and neck and it soaks into the skin almost instantly leaving it soft and supple without any tightness what so ever. I then just apply my Garnier Moisture Match moisturiser and my skin hasn’t felt better. I have less redness now, less dry patches and I have to say, my skin really hasn’t broken out too crazily either. It definitely doesn’t clog my pores up either and although it’s quite a thin consistency, it doesn’t slip around everywhere causing a greasy mess.
Not only does this product work wonders, it’s also paraben free and hypo-allergenic which makes it great for sensitive skin sufferers and also dry skin types, perfect for me! I now have quite a set morning and evening skincare routine with a couple of Avéne products here and there, I think they are a great brand and really know what they are doing with their skincare products.
At the moment Escentual have up to a 1/3 off their French Pharmacy brands till the end of March placing this product at £12.75 instead of £17.00 a pretty good chance to give a great product a whirl. *Leans in to whisper* Also Buy One Get One Free on Bioderma! I did a recent collective haul post too which shows you some other bits I picked up from Escental, too good of an opportunity to pass up I say!
Have you tried this serum? What are your thoughts on Avéne products?
