Best of Beauty 2013

The year of 2012 is nearly over and therefore wanted to show you my yearly beauty favourites. These are the products that have impressed me the most and generally have reached for a lot  throughout this year. I tried to not go too overboard but it’s difficult when there was a lot that I loved this year.
Urban Decay never fails to impress and I’ve loved the Naked Basics palette since I bought it at the beginning of the year. It contains 5 matte shades and 1 shimmer shade and it’s perfect for a soft natural look, a brown smoky eye and my favourite use for it is filling in my eyebrows. It’s also small and compact and I just love having it in my collection.
I was never a fan of cream products however 2013 brought some amazing ones out that I have been a fan of. Being named a Chanel dupe, the Bourjois Bronzing Primer came out and I used it nearly every day in the summer time. Perfect for a soft bronzed glow all year round. Another great Bourjois product were their cream blushers, I have Rose Tender and it’s lovely for a soft pink glow to the cheeks that lasts really well on the skin.
Finally, the Maybelline Master Drama Chromatics eyeliners are super pigmented and creamy and come in 4 gorgeous colours. I picked up 3 and used them so much during the summer time. They last well, easy to apply and the colours are very vibrant. And opposed to a white eyeliner, Rimmel Scandaleyes in Nude is a brilliant alternative.
My favourite product of 2013 is definitely the DiorSkin Nude BB Cream, it’s a light but buildable coverage that leaves my skin feeling fresh and feels really light. Great for summer use however I have been using it recently ad it’s still just as great, I also find I don’t need to powder it either. Another great BB cream that’s a cheaper alternative is the Rimmel BB Cream, I’ve confessed my love for this a lot over the year. It’s similar to the Dior one however it feels a little thicker in consistency and a lot more purse friendly.
Bourjois again has brought out another great product in the form of the Happy Light Luminous Serum Primer. I picked up the dry skin version however there’s also one available for oily skin. It’s great to use under your foundation as it creates a luminous finish and keeps your skin hydrated all throughout the day.
I finally got my paws on the Origins Drink Up Intensive mask for my birthday and I think it’s such a stand out product. It’s perfect for anyone who suffers with thirsty skin as it really does help keep it soft and hydrated.
Batiste is just a common dry shampoo brand that I’ve used for years however the XXL Volume version is amazing. It creates crazy volume without leaving your hair white however it does leave you hair feeling slightly chalky but this doesn’t bother me as it’s usually so shiny, this gives my hair texture and helps with styling.
2013 was the year I finally won my battle with tangly hair, I am so glad I have found the products that help detangle my crazy mop. First I spray the Yuko Repair Through spray that helps detangle my hair and leave it feeling soft and nourished and then I tackle to knots with my Tangle Teezer which is 100% worth the hype and money, it’s amazing at combing the hair and doesn’t pull or tug at all.
Lip products really stepped up this year and with the long awaited release of Maybelline Babylips my lips haven’t been so soft. I have all 6 available in the UK and honestly love all of them. They are great affordable lipbalms that offer hydration and moisture, and three are tinted. Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquers sent quite a storm throughout the beauty blogging community with nearly every blogger writing a review on them, including myself. I love these gorgeous lip products, they apply as a gloss and dry as a lipstick and stay put for ages, gorgeous colours too. Finally, the Bourjois Color Boost Glossy Lipsticks were permanently attached to my lips, four gorgeous summery shades that are easy to apply and leave a soft glossy finish on the lips they are beautiful products. They have also recently released some beautiful winter shades too.
Barry M, oh how I love thee. These nail polishes have received a well earned second place in my “favourite nail polish brand” list. The formulas of both the normal nail paints and the gel high-shine paints are incredible. There’s a crazy amount of beautiful shades to chose from and featured are just a few of my favourites but I love all the ones I own: Jewel Britannia, Ruby Glitter, Plum, Guava, Papaya and Dragon Fruit.

That’s it for my yearly round-up of the best beauty products I have found, I hope 2014 will be just as successful at finding new products. Which products have you loved throughout 2013?
