Makeup Refresh

Do you ever get those days when your skin just won’t do as it’s told? Your makeup won’t sit right but you haven’t changed anything in your skincare routine, it’s just being a pain? I recently had one of those days, actually one of those weeks and nothing would work for me. In times when this happens I’ve found that just getting a couple of new products helps sort out that issue.

Although I had the Chanel Les Beige foundation that was still working wonders, because it’s so expensive and the only foundation that was my current colour I didn’t want to use it up too quickly and embarked on finding a new high-street foundation. Two products that I have wanted to try for a while were the Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation and Concealer. And since they were on a 3 for 2 I decided to try the Bourjois Healthy Balance Compact Powder.

PIN IT!PIN IT!I was after a base product that was hydrating with a light to medium coverage as I wanted to be able to use it in the summer for a more natural look. It promises to give 16 hour wear and said to be packed full of vitamins to create a flawless fresh complexion. I love this foundation, I find that one pump goes a long way to create a light coverage look, although it is light it covers my redness and blemishes quite well. It’s easy to build up for a fuller coverage without appearing caky. As for the 16 hour wear, I don’t have my makeup on that long but I have found it lasts about 8-10 hours on my skin, then it starts to become a bit patchy. It does however keep my skin feeling really hydrated all day which for me is my main concern so the longevity isn’t a big deal for me.

PIN IT!The concealer is so brightening and covers my under eye circles so well, one of the best concealers I have tried. It doesn’t crease under the eyes if I apply the right amount, too much and it does cause slight creasing. It lasts really well on my skin and keeps my under eyes hydrated as mine can get a little dry.

PIN IT!I chose this powder because I thought it looked like a light finish, my powders I had been using were too heavy duty and weren’t working on me, they made me look powdery and caky but this one is so soft and finely milled that it’s just the right amount for a light finish. The only downside for me is that the powders are colours, a translucent powder would be so much more convenient. I chose the lightest shade and it has quite a bit of coverage, however as long as I use a light hand I’m ok. This powder doesn’t settle in any dry patches and lets my skin breathe which is what mine needs.

Every now and again it’s great to have a little makeup refresh. Using continuous products can become a bit stale and boring and I’m so glad I chose these three products to get me out of my makeup rut.

Have you tried any of these products?

I used to use the Healthy mix range every day! Don’t know why I stopped, it seems like it’s time to stock up again!

I’ve never tried this foundation as I am sure it contained an ingredient I was allergic to, I’ve also never really been a bit Bourjois makeup girl for some reason! It sounds so lovely though, especially as it doesn’t stick to dry areas.
