Kate Spade Agenda VS Erin Condren Life Planner

I have shared a lot of love for my new Erin Condren Life Planner recently, some may think it silly that I could get so excited over a planner but it’s pretty safe to say I love my stationery and these things thrill me enormously. I mentioned how I would write a comparison post as I’ve test run both planners now. The Kate Spade Agenda is becoming a lot more popular now that it’s more accessible in the UK and the Erin Condren Life Planner seems to be a pretty big deal in the US. So it’s time, Kate Spade Agenda VS Erin Condren Life Planner.

I recently posted an in-depth review about the Erin Condren Life Planner which went into detail about the ordering process, shipping, customs charges etc and at the beginning of the year I wrote a review of the Kate Spade Agenda and even then I mentioned the EC planner. There is something about that planner that just tickles my fancy.

The Look
The outside of both planners are pretty darn amazing, the Kate Spade is sleek and simple and always on trend with gold, black and cream stripes/polka dots and the Erin Condren has interchangeable front covers so you can dress it up how you want. I personally like both a lot but I do like how the EC is coated which means less scratches and damage whereas on the KS some of the gold numbers on the front has scratched off slightly.  I do like the band on the KS as it secures your planner and stops it falling open easily, you can get bands for the EC but they will be extra at $7 for a pack of three.

The Size
Size wise they are exactly the same however the pages in the EC are bigger as they span the entire width of the planner whereas the KS stops short. This is the main reason why I love the Erin Condren, you can fit so much more on the pages and Saturday and Sunday isn’t halved like it is in the KS, you get seven full rows all with equals amounts of space and a little extra on the side and bottom. It also helps that the layout is vertical, I find it so much easier to plan with this layout than a horizontal layout.

Quality
Personally I think they are both of a high standard, the Kate Spade has a more luxurious and expensive look but they are both very durable and hold up well. They both have good quality paper inside but I prefer the white paper over the cream. The coil on the EC is a lot stronger and thicker than that of the KS however I do like the gold. You can get gold in the EC as well (also black and rose gold) however that will cost an extra $10 on top of an already pretty pricey planner. I know a lot of people had issues with the new EC launch, technical issues where customers were being charged multiple times, printing issues however I experienced neither and I am thrilled with my planner.

Planning
I always wanted an Erin Condren planner ever since I started watching Plan With Me videos on YouTube, it just looked so pretty and planning looked fun. I decided to still try and dress up my Kate Spade in a similar style and although I loved it and enjoyed doing it, I didn’t have as much space and most of the stickers were redundant and wasted. Planning in the EC is so fun and I love how each spread always turns out, it may sound silly but it makes me more productive as I want to complete my to-do list so that my spread stays looking nice and not messy, a strange sort of encouragement but it really works! With or without the stickers I just prefer the layout in the EC a lot better.

Overall
I love both planners but for different reasons. If I were just planning normally or using my planner as a type of journal I would use the Kate Spade as it does have a good amount of space for that, it looks lovely and for the money it is an excellent product. However I have to admit that I am now fully sold on the Erin Condren planner and I don’t think I will ever go back to anything else, thank goodness I’ll only have to spend the $100 every one and a half years. For me it’s just a lot more spacious, I love that I can decorate it and I’m way more productive when using it, it gets me excited to complete my chores – I know, I’m a loser.

If you’re on the fence about which planner to buy I hope this has helped you in some way. For simple day to day life I’d highly recommend the Kate Spade but if you want that little something extra then the Erin Condren may be for you, and you can get 10% off your first order by using the following link here.
