I’ve been a busy little bee with shopping recently, I didn’t realise just how much I had bought until I saw it all sitting on my vanity. I haven’t written a haul post in a while so I thought I would share all the bits and bobs that I had accumulated recently. Now a couple of products were gifted to me which I shall explain in the post but I am so grateful for the products, they are heaven sent and you shall find out why.
Starting off with the slightly more boring products, I picked up another Garnier Ultimate Blends Delicate Oat Shampoo, I’ve written a review on it here and I can’t explain just how nice it is. Smells amazing, leaves your hair frizz-free, soft smooth and hydrated. I finally repurchased the Charles Worthington Texturising Spray as I desperately needed it. As silly as that sounds, I needed a product that gave my hair a bit of texture and grip. Since having my hair cut short, I am really struggling with styling it, it won’t curl, wave or even straighten. I always forget that my hair has a natural wave and it’s been cut on that wave so it just flicks out and kinks strangely, I knew that this spray would at least allow me to style it in a messy, “I woke up like this” bed head style. They had an offer in Boots for buy one get one half price so I of course took advantage of that. These last me a while so I’m glad I’m stocked up for probably the rest of the year.
I don’t want to bore everyone but after having my severe allergic reaction to a drug in hospital after George was born, my skin just isn’t the same. It’s so sensitive and the slightest thing can trigger off a flare-up where my skin just becomes red, itchy and lumpy. This happened a few days ago, it happened just because I had my makeup on for a while, once it’s been on for longer than about 8 hours my skin starts to itch and the flare-up happens. I thought I was passed all this as it hasn’t happened in a while but clearly I will suffer with it forever now. I Tweeted about my problems and the ever wonderful Gemma from Miss Makeup Magpie offered a helping hand and suggested I ask the ladies over at Escentual. Ceryn came to the rescue and recommended I try the Avéne Recovery Cream so I went straight on their website and bought it. I’ve used Avéne a lot over the years and I love their products, I’ve never had an issue and since this product is aimed at dry hypersensitive and irritable skin, I didn’t even hesitate, I bought it straight away.
The next day Ceryn emailed me asking if she could send me a couple of other products to help fight my flare-up and get my skin back to normal. Anything she recommends I trust and agreed straight away. I received the La Roche-Posay Toleriane Softening Foaming Gel* for cleaning my skin and removing any impurities and the La Roche-Posay Toleriane Ultra Nuit* which is the perfect night treatment as it relieves skin discomforts and irritated skin. She also kindly added in a much loved product amongst beauty bloggers, La Roche-Posay Serozinc* which is just brilliant as I’ve always wanted to try it. I will be writing a skincare post very soon featuring these products as they are just brilliant as already my skin is so much calmer.
Finally, prior to my flare-up I ran out of moisturiser and decided to finally try the Embryolisse Lait-Créme Concentré as I have wanted to try it out pretty much since I first started blogging. I haven’t had a chance to use this yet however I’m sure it will be popping up in a post in the future.
I had some vouchers left over for H&M and bought more nail polish, I have a review coming soon for one of them but they are lovely polishes. They have such a huge shade range, longevity varies on shades however they are such beautiful opaque glossy finishes that I don’t mind them chipping early on. I picked up Tickled Pink and Peachy Keen for colours and also the Instant Armour Top Coat. I spotted the Brush Cleanser Spray at the last minute, I’m yet to try it but I will report back at a later date on how it is. Finally I picked up the Brow Specialist in Chocolate Brown as it was only £2.99, I was just curious as to how it measures up to my Soap & Glory brow pencil.
A little while ago now I bought one of the new Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolour’s in Obsession. Ever since I saw US bloggers sharing snaps I knew I had to try them. I have a thing about liquid lipsticks at the moment, they are so low maintenance but still look beautiful. I do want to get more shades eventually as this is a brilliant formula. I’m sure it will be in a future post at some point.
I needed a new brow gel so I decided to try the Rimmel Brow This Way in the clear formula as it was on offer and although the formula of the Maybelline Brow Drama is great, the brush is quite an annoying shape.
Finally from Maybelline, my favourite high-street brand, I picked up two of the new Vivid Matte Liquid‘s in Nude Flush and Possessed Plum. Told you I was obsessed with liquid lip products at the moment. I haven’t even opened these yet but they look beautiful. I love a good pinky nude and also wanted a darker shade as well to mix things up a bit.
What beauty products have you picked up recently? Do you have any recommendations?
