I’ve lost count how many times I have written about this perfume on my blog, it gets a lot of attention and for good reason. YSL Black Opium is unlike any scent you have ever smelt, and let me tell you why.
A quick touch on the packaging though, how pretty is it?! Black and sleek with glitter all over it, some may think it’s slightly tacky but I feel like it’s just enough before it’s gets too overboard. I also like how flat and sleek it is as it’s more travel friendly. Chunky and heavy perfume bottles are annoying to carry around, especially when you want them in a little clutch bag.
With a top note of just black coffee mixed with the base note of vanilla and white florals, it’s certainly a different kind of scent. Don’t be alarmed or put off, I can assure you that you won’t be walking the streets smelling like Starbucks has thrown up on you, it’s mature, sophisticated and the vanilla makes it a very feminine and sexy scent. It’s just stunning and I can always tell when my sister is wearing it, my nose buds start to twitch, it smells gorgeous.
Wear time is incredible as well, just two sprays; wrist and neck, this scent easily lingers all day long. I’d definitely say it’s more of an evening scent, I always chose this when I’m going out but I still wear it in the day time too.
I was a bit hesitant to try this when the sales assistant offered me a tester. When I worked in Boots and people would ask to test the original, YSL Opium, I’d brace myself as it sent my nose buds into a frenzy, that scent is just too much! However, I was so surprised and fell in love with this one straight away. They have just released an eau de toilette version which I’ve heard is a lot softer but still quite sexy and I can’t wait to try that one.
As always, I highly recommend giving this scent a whiff, it’s just so beautiful and worth adding to your collection.
Have you tried YSL Black Opium? What are your thoughts on it?

I haven’t tried it myself but my dad did buy it for my mum last Christmas and I wrapped it for him and I think they must spray it inside the box as the scent was wafting out as I wrapped it up. It’s gorgeous and I definitely wouldn’t say no to having a bottle myself x
