Claudia Louch Makeup

Any beauty products that come in pretty pouches automatically get extra points, though this particular one is a fluff magnet – gets out lint roller. I personally have never heard of the brand Claudia Louch but when I was asked if I would like to try some bits I couldn’t resist.

Quick touch on packaging, I’ve already mentioned the pouch, it’s a very nice touch and makes everything appear more luxurious. The products are just very simple looking which is what I always like.

The Claudia Louch Mineral Compact Powder* is made from 94% natural ingredients which is great but to me it’s a standard powder. It comes in a compact form with a mirror and a sponge which I never use as they harbour germs but the formula of the powder is nice. It’s light weight and provides a slight coverage but doesn’t clog up my pores or make my skin appear cakey. It also doesn’t sit in any dry patches which is fab. However, here’s the blow, £52.50 for this one product! What!?! That is insane, I could buy two of my beloved MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural Powders for that and I personally think that powder is better.

I love testing out new mascaras as I’m trying to find one that suits my stubborn straight lashes and the Claudia Louch Lashware Mascara* was the latest contender. The formula is suitable for contact lens wearers and sensitive eyes and is said to be water-resistant which isn’t totally waterproof but is supposed to hold up throughout the day and not smudge. It’s said to add length, volume and curl whilst still looking natural.

The mascara does separate the lashes beautifully but I wouldn’t necessarily say it adds volume, length and curl as the curl that my lash curler creates drops as soon as I apply this mascara. I have such stubborn lashes that nothing seems to work for me anymore. I do love how natural my lashes look though so it’s perfect for a soft natural everyday look. The formula however is a little dry for me and leaves my lashes with a funny tacky residue. It also isn’t water-resistant in the slightest. The tiniest bit of wind makes my eyes water and whilst out recently, my eyes started to water just a tiny bit and this mascara went everywhere, I had serious panda eyes and it was embarrassing. For £21.00 this mascara is definitely not worth the splurge.

Finally, the Claudia Louch High Definition Foundation* is a lovely medium coverage foundation with a soft light weight formula. Being a high definition foundation, it means it will photograph beautifully however this shade at the moment is slightly too dark for me so I won’t be able to test it fully until the summer when I have a little bit of colour. For the couple of times I did try and make the shade work, it felt lovely on the skin and left a soft glow. However, for £52.50 I don’t think it’s worth the price as you only get 20ml of product whereas nearly all other foundation brands including YSL and Chanel have 30ml of product.

Overall I’d say Claudia Louch is a bit hit and miss with their products. Although they are formulated to be used on any skin conditions and skin types and are mostly natural products, I just don’t feel the prices reflect on the products themselves.

Have you tried any products by Claudia Louch? What are your thoughts on the brand?
