The Everyday Base

Recently I have found myself to be reaching for the same products every single day. I’ve always had trouble finding the perfect foundation for my dry pale skin but this routine seems to be “The one.” What better way than to share my fabulous finds than with like-minded beauty obsessed people?

22I’ve used the Clinique Redness Solutions Primer for about a year now and it’s still the same tube. A pea sized amount is all I need to apply to my cheeks, chin and sides of my nose. It instantly evens my skin tone from horrible red blotches to a more even look without leaving a green tinge. It’s also a great base for my makeup, I never have an issue with my foundation when this is on.

Foundation wise, the best one I have found for my dry skin is the Rimmel Match Perfection. It provides great coverage and keeps my skin hydrated throughout the day. It doesn’t sit in my dry areas at all and leaves my skin with a healthy dewy glow, nothing too shiny. This is my second bottle and I honestly can’t live without it now. Buffed into my skin with the Zoeva Silk Finish brush, it really leaves a flawless even complexion.

For concealers I use two most days but three when I’m feeling fancy. Where I usually suffer from redness, I always apply a concealer just to make sure, it also highlights my face nicely whilst providing a nice coverage. The concealer in question is the Revlon Colourstay, blemishes and redness are truly hidden with this product, it’s brilliant. For highlighting my under eyes, I’m all about the Maybelline Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles Concealer which is a ridiculously long name but it covers my under eye circles perfectly and doesn’t crease of appear caky. And for the days when I’m feeling fancy and want some extra highlighting, I use the YSL Touche Eclat. At first I wasn’t sure about this product at all, in fact I hated it but now I love it. The pink undertone really reflects beautifully in the light and suits my skin tone quite well. The highlighter is noticeable but subtle and doesn’t look greasy or shiny.

I finish my base with a light dusting of Rimmel Stay Matte Powder. I use the transparent shade so my foundation is set but no extra colour or coverage is added. It doesn’t dry my skin out or appear caky. If like me you suffer from dry skin, don’t be put off by the word matte, sometimes the products are brilliant, like this one.

Have you tried and of these products? What are your thoughts on them?

I adore the Rimmel foundation, and powder in fact. I was going to pick up the Revlon concealer the other day too but didn't, I think I'll have to go back for it now though!

I've been through one of the Revlon concealers and loved it, it felt light but provided coverage. I'm using my touche eclat at the moment and love that also! But I may have to try the Clinique primer, I suffer from redness on my cheeks and it can be really annoying because I don't really like to wear too much foundation on an everyday bases. So maybe this underneath might help!

    Great post lovely,

Completely agree, feels like there's nothing on the skin but has such brilliant coverage. I highly recommend the primer, really helps with my redness xx

It's really nice when you find a routine that works for you, and you love it! I really like the sound of the Revlon concealer, I think it comes in pretty light shades too which would be perfect for me.

Gorgeous picks, I really want to try the Maybelline congealer as I’ve heard so many good things – I’m just not sure I could get used to the sponge applicator as I’d want to keep trying to clean it hehe.

Thank you Charlee! As it's used on the under eyes, I never worry about hygiene with it, and also, it's only ever on my skin :) xx

I always find your recommendations to work so well for me, I must try some of these products as they all look amazing. I especially want to try the Touche Eclat as the quality looks amazing but it also seems very brightening.
