Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush - Diffused Heat | Review & Swatches
I know what you are probably thinking, "Not another review of these blushers!" I was very surprised to read mixed reviews on the - not so new any more - Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush's. I've been a viewing fan of Hourglass for a long time, meaning every single review I saw I had to read it regardless if I had read others about the same product ten times, anyone else like that? When I saw these where going to be hitting our beauty shelves I knew I had to get myself on that well and truly hyped up band wagon.
Blushers and mascara I live for, so when the offering of a blusher and a well loved powder hybrid came along, who was going to say no? There are 6 shades available, ranging from a baby pink to a lovely coral. The shade I originally wanted was out of stock so I went for Diffused Heat instead.
Diffused Heat is described as a vibrant poppy blush combined with the powder Diffused Light. I haven't used any of powders sadly, however since using the blushers I definitely want to try them. None of the blushers are the same, because of the extraordinary marble effect, you could end up with a larger powder section or vice versa.
The one thing about these that let me down was the packaging. Online they look weighty and sturdy well in actual fact they are just encased in weightless plastic. Very pretty shiny plastic mind you. Saying that though, they do look very luxurious and pretty in the collection. There's a big mirror on the lid which is great for touch ups and I'd say you get an amazing amount of product for the price of £28.00. I made the mistake of doing my blusher the normal way and ended up with clown cheeks, you only need the lightest touch on the powder to get excellent colour pay off which is fab and therefore means it will last a long time.
The actual product blends like a dream, I've never used a blusher like it, so easy to apply and doesn't leave any awful patches or lines, it just blends beautifully. There are teeny tiny shimmer particles in the pan but once blended in, they just create a beautiful soft glow. I love the luminescent glow that the Diffused Light powder creates on my cheekbones. You can see in the picture above how natural and soft the shade is and on the apple of my cheek there's a soft light glow. The staying power for me and my dry skin is pretty much all day, lightens a little bit but it's still very much noticeable. It also doesn't sit in any dry patches or look cakey, just looks like an effortless natural glow to the skin.
I think it's pretty obvious how much I adore these. I recently bought a couple Milani Baked Blushers and although they offer a similar effect, the Hourglass ones are so much softer and the powder has hardly any kick-up in the pan whereas the Milani one's turn into a dessert storm with the slightest touch of a brush.
Do I think they are worth it? Yes. I would definitely recommend them if you have had them on your wishlist for a while. I now have my heart set on all the shades and after a lot of deliberation, I will be saving for the well-hyped Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette, too much luxury for me to handle!

The Pretty Shelf & Perfume Collection
Moving on to the products on the actual tray, at the back there's Lacoste Touch of Pink in the centre with Juicy Couture Couture Couture to the left and Juicy Couture Couture La La to the right. Taylor Swift Wonderstruck and Taylor Swift Wonderstruck Enchanted are on either side of Juicy Couture. I also have Japanese Cherry Blossom by The Body Shop, YSL Cinéma and Jo Malone Peony & Blush Suede.
Finally, the fragrances at the front from left to right are: Elie Saab Eau De Parfum Intense, Guess Girl by Guess, Victoria Beckham Intimately Yours, Taylor by Taylor Swift, Elie Saab Eau De Parfum and finally a tiny sample bottle of Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb.
Recently Debenhams have had lots of little samples lying around their shelves and I decided to grab a few and have stored these just dotted about. I love the smell of Estée Lauder Modern Muse and also Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh, I bought it for my Grandma one year and she loved it.
That's my little shelf and perfume collection, I am trying to use up some of the fragrances now so I can justify buying new ones but they take so long to finish. I really can't decide on my favourites at the moment, it changes all the time with my mood however the one scent that I 100% adore and never get bored of is Juicy Couture's Couture Couture, it's just so unique. I'm very pleased with this set up and can't wait to expand my ever growing perfume collection more.
Which scent is your favourite?

Beach Day - Outfit Post
Lace bralette - Forever 21 | Top - Gilly Hicks | Shorts - Zara | Flip flops - New Look | Sunglasses - Michael Kors.
If you have read my last post, you will have known that things for my family and I have been extremely tough lately. I mentioned to my Grandpa a couple of days ago about taking a walk down to the beach in the nice weather, to get him out the house and to feel as though he's doing something. We had a lovely time, a nice walk from his house to the seafront and we also bought an ice-cream each. He seemed to enjoy himself, reminiscing about my Grandma and have a little giggle, it was lovely.
When the sun finally came out this morning, I wanted to whip out one of my pretty lace bralettes and love the strappy detail of that top that I paired with it. I love how you can see just a little bit of lace peeking through at the back. My flip-flops are a few years old now but are still going strong, I fancy getting some dainty sandals though for the Summer months. Do you have any recommendations?
Hope you had a lovely time in the sun today. What did you get up to?

Toni & Guy Jumbo Tong | Review
Toni & Guy Jumbo Tong - £20.00 | link
Back in March, I featured the Toni & Guy Jumbo Tong in my March Favourites and I'm still rather obsessed with this curler. When I had long hair, I was after something that would create soft subtle waves in my hair and didn't buy this until I had cut all my hair off (pictures taken before I did my ombre.) I grabbed this because it was cheap, £20.00 you can't really complain considering most hair tools are over £50.00 mark.
The Toni & Guy Jumbo Curling Tong has a 38mm barrel which creates the gorgeous soft waves, it also has a dial so you can chose the temperature, the highest being 200c. It says it is designed to protect your hair and colour with the ceramic tourmaline coated barrel which is also supposed to enhance shine, protect your hair against frizz and make it smooth and lock in the colour. It all sounds rather fancy and in all honesty, sounds like rubbish to me, I bought it purely for the size of the barrel.
It took me a little while to get the hang of using it as I haven't used a curling wand with a clip in about 8 years, I also had to practice getting the direction right so that my hair would lie in a nice way but now I have the hang of it, I can curl my hair within 10 minutes. The tong does heat up very quickly, I'd say it's ready within roughly 30 seconds, maybe even quicker than that, I love how fast it is.
Once my hair is curled, it looks like the pictures above, soft messy waves that look natural, like you haven't put any effort in. I always use a heat protecting spray in my hair but I still haven't noticed any frizziness after applying the heat, my hair is still soft and smooth without any tangles. I personally don't notice any difference in the colour of my hair after using it. The curls do last a decent amount of time in my hair, by the end of the day they have fallen out a lot but I'm still left with soft kinks and waves here and there that actually looks really nice and the next day just looks like I have a very soft natural curl.
I think this tong is great for shorter hair styles, I feel that with longer hair the curls might fall out quicker but since I never used this on my long hair I can't say for sure. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for that messy "I woke up like this" wavy hair, if you want more defined curls, I'd stick with the clip-less curling wands with a smaller barrel instead.
Have you tried this curling tong? What's your favourite styling tool to use?

Double Book Review | Tess Gerritsen & Chris Mooney
Chris Mooney - The Soul Collectors
I've read a book by Chris Mooney before and I enjoyed it but this book, was a-mazing. I was staying up till past midnight reading it, walking around reading it and even whilst I was making tea, I was addicted to it. It has really short chapters which I love in books as I find them easier to read and I end up finishing them quicker as I also think "One more chapter" and the next thing I've read 10.
The storyline in The Soul Collectors was so gripping and such a page turner. It's actually the 4th book in the Darby McCormick series which I didn't realise at the time. I don't like to give too much a way but it's about a CSI for Boston PD - Darby is called to a scene where a child, who went missing 10 years ago is holding his family at gunpoint, and it's about Darby getting to the bottom of everything, where he has been the past 10 years and why he is threatening his family. It gave me chills at some points and the ending is what I can only describe as powerful, I was left with my mouth hanging opening and repeating the words "Oh my god!" Probably one of the best books I've ever read.
Since finishing this book, in 6 days I might add, not my quickest but still pretty impressive, I have bought another 4 books of his. I've purchased the rest of the series and another stand alone novel, I also bought the book of his I have already read as that's actually the 3rd book in the series above and I want to read it again. If you're looking for face paced crime thriller which will give you chills, this is a must read! And little tip, I buy most of my books either in charity shops or from Play.com as the used ones are sometimes less than £1.50, total bargain.
Tess Gerritsen - Last to Die
If you've read my book reviews before, you will have noticed how much I love Tess Gerristen's books. She was formally a Doctor and all her books are so scientific and accurate, they are incredibly interesting. Last to Die is the latest book in the Rizzoli & Isles series, you may know the TV series Rizzoli & Isles which isn't really based on the books at all any more but still a brilliant series, I love it. I have read every single book in this series and I do thoroughly enjoy them.
Last to Die is about Rizzoli and Isles getting locked inside a high security boarding school along with some students. There's been a murder within the grounds and it's up to them to find out who the killer is and if they are already on the property. As much as I love this series, I did find this book and the twists to be a little extravagant and it took me about 3 weeks to read as I didn't find it as gripping and tense as the rest of her books. I did enjoy it and I definitely will continuing buying the new ones she releases.
I hope this post has brought some new books to your attention, I can't recommend The Soul Collectors enough, it's just brilliant! I can't wait for the other books to arrive so I can read some more by him, I can see myself becoming a book reading hermit again!
What's your favourite book at the moment?
