Summer Fashion Wishlist

I've never really been that interested in buying new clothes, I always chose new make-up instead. I could never find anything that I liked or that suited me but recently that has all changed. I've been finding lots of lovely bits which you can see in my two hauls recently here and here and there's so many pretty things in stores at the moment that I would love to pick up. Here's a few bits that I have spotted recently online and in-store.

Aéropostal Bethany Mota Calico Print Open-Back Sundress - £24.36 | link - I adore the Bethany Mota line but being a US store, it's very difficult to hold of the items as shipping can be very expensive but it doesn't stop me drooling over the line. I love this sundress as it looks really comfortable and the back is beautiful, open with a couple of straps here and there, perfect for summertime.

Aéropostal Bethany Mota Destroyed Sheer Heart Logo Sweater - £27.41 | link - This jumper reminds me of the Wildfox ones but for a fraction of the price. I love her logo and the destroyed hem and sleeves. Looks super comfortable and love the loose fabric for those warm summer nights.

Topshop Pale Pink Leigh Jeans - £28.00 | here - I've never been a fan of skinny jeans, I hate tights in general but these leigh jeans are so soft, they feel just like leggings. I have a black pair and a light wash pair but the pink ones would be so cute for summertime.

Triangl Miami Mint Bikini - $79.00 | link - I think everyone wants one of these bikini's, they are all over the net and I can understand why. I've heard that these bikini's give the small breasted gals like myself a bit of shape and a bust boost thanks to the neoprene (wet-suit) material. I love the colours and everyone has opted for the coral one so I've decided to go for the mint one, would be amazing for my holiday in Morocco.

Topshop Mint Crochet Shorts - £24.00 | link - I love crochet shorts in summer time as they can be worn for either day wear or they can be dressed up for a classy evening look. The mint green adds a touch of spring to the look, so pretty.

USC Only Asta Lace Bralet - £15.00 | link - I think everyone knows about my bralette obsession, it's reached an all new height at the moment and this black one is so pretty. I love how the lace comes down lower than a normal bralette.

Tom Ford Sunglasses - £194.00 | link - I'm not 100% sure if these are the sunglasses I liked as I saw a pair like this in my local sunglasses hut store and fell in love instantly. They are the Ray Ban shape which I love and they just look so elegant and chic. Very pricey and out of my price range but a girl can dream.

Topshop Block Playsuit - £35.00 | link - I was never a playsuit kinda girl, because I'm tall they never seemed to fit me in the body and they just looked out of shape on me but recently I found one in H&M that fitted perfectly and they are my knew obsession. I found this Topshop one and I love the colour blocking, think it would be perfect for a nice evening meal.

Deichmann Sandals - £16.99 | link - I'm hoping to pick these up for my holiday if they are still in my store. They are quite different from what I usually go for. The cross strap detail with the mini studs on the nude looks so cute and the style and shade will go with everything.

Dolly Bow Bow Amelia Statement Necklace - £14.00 | link - I hardly ever wear jewellery but fell in love with this pastel coloured statement necklace as soon as I saw it. It's not too over the top considering it's a statement one and it's just beautiful.

Topshop Daisy Lace Playsuit - £38.00 | link - I know I know, another playsuit but the lace detailing and the strapping on the back is too pretty to pass up. Just looks perfect for those warm summer days. Daisy's are the best floral print too, so cute.

NEW | Schwarzkopf Essence Ultime Omega Repair Range

I had a recent accident in the shower which resulted in me smashing my favourite hair mask at the moment. I didn't even have a chance to photograph and review it for you but as soon as I have some extra pence, I shall replace it for you and pop up a review. For now I've transferred what I could rescue into an old tub.

After that fiasco, I was in Asda with the mothership and it was her that spotted the new Schwarzkopf Essence Ultime Omega Repair Range on a 3 for £10.00 deal and thought I'd give them a try. This new line has been developed with Claudia Schiffer and it's aimed at damaged and depleted hair. I love the look of the packaging, the products definitely look the part in the shower caddy.

I picked up a shampoo which I haven't tried just yet as I have three on the go in the shower already but it does smell a little funky. A mix between Bailey's and men's aftershave, it's rather strange but I have high hopes of achieving luxurious hair afterwards. Next was a hair mask, since I ombred my hair, it has become a little dry which I expected but it just means I now have to look after it a bit more. This smells a lot like shea butter to me, very nice indeed. It says that it's a one minute mask which I am intrigued about as most masks are over three minutes so will be interesting to see if it truly does work it's magic in the advertised time frame. Finally, the BB beauty balm, a beauty balm for your hair, whatever next? It's described as a 7-in-1 product that helps with restoring split ends, intensive repair and structure rebuild, easy combing, shine, bounce, hydration and all with a weightless effect. Pretty impressive ay? I've used this about four times so far and it does leave my hair feeling extremely smooth.

I can't wait to start putting this line to the test properly soon, just need to finish up a couple of other products first. I'm sure you will be seeing this line on my blog more in the future!

Have you tried anything from this new line? What have been your thoughts on them?

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush - Diffused Heat | Review & Swatches

I know what you are probably thinking, "Not another review of these blushers!" I was very surprised to read mixed reviews on the - not so new any moreHourglass Ambient Lighting Blush's. I've been a viewing fan of Hourglass for a long time, meaning every single review I saw I had to read it regardless if I had read others about the same product ten times, anyone else like that? When I saw these where going to be hitting our beauty shelves I knew I had to get myself on that well and truly hyped up band wagon.

Blushers and mascara I live for, so when the offering of a blusher and a well loved powder hybrid came along, who was going to say no? There are 6 shades available, ranging from a baby pink to a lovely coral. The shade I originally wanted was out of stock so I went for Diffused Heat instead.

Diffused Heat is described as a vibrant poppy blush combined with the powder Diffused Light. I haven't used any of powders sadly, however since using the blushers I definitely want to try them. None of the blushers are the same, because of the extraordinary marble effect, you could end up with a larger powder section or vice versa.

The one thing about these that let me down was the packaging. Online they look weighty and sturdy well in actual fact they are just encased in weightless plastic. Very pretty shiny plastic mind you. Saying that though, they do look very luxurious and pretty in the collection. There's a big mirror on the lid which is great for touch ups and I'd say you get an amazing amount of product for the price of £28.00. I made the mistake of doing my blusher the normal way and ended up with clown cheeks, you only need the lightest touch on the powder to get excellent colour pay off which is fab and therefore means it will last a long time.

The actual product blends like a dream, I've never used a blusher like it, so easy to apply and doesn't leave any awful patches or lines, it just blends beautifully. There are teeny tiny shimmer particles in the pan but once blended in, they just create a beautiful soft glow. I love the luminescent glow that the Diffused Light powder creates on my cheekbones. You can see in the picture above how natural and soft the shade is and on the apple of my cheek there's a soft light glow. The staying power for me and my dry skin is pretty much all day, lightens a little bit but it's still very much noticeable. It also doesn't sit in any dry patches or look cakey, just looks like an effortless natural glow to the skin.

I think it's pretty obvious how much I adore these. I recently bought a couple Milani Baked Blushers and although they offer a similar effect, the Hourglass ones are so much softer and the powder has hardly any kick-up in the pan whereas the Milani one's turn into a dessert storm with the slightest touch of a brush.

Do I think they are worth it? Yes. I would definitely recommend them if you have had them on your wishlist for a while. I now have my heart set on all the shades and after a lot of deliberation, I will be saving for the well-hyped Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette, too much luxury for me to handle!

Have you tried any of the Hourlgass blushers? What are your thoughts on them?

The Pretty Shelf & Perfume Collection

A couple of weeks ago I redecorated my bedroom as I previously had a dark purple feature wall that made the room quite dark. I decided to just paint all the walls a cream colour and along the way picked up some décor pieces that I will take with me when Brent and I eventually move into our own place. This shelf is probably my favourite place in my room now and thought that since I love home décor posts, I might as well do a post of my own. Since this shelf also holds my perfume collection, I decided to merge the two posts together and I hope you enjoy it.

The shelf itself is from Argos and it's the basic floating shelf, it was originally the beach effect however I painted it white when I started to buy white furniture. On the left-hand side I have a stack of magazines that are my "to read" pile and every month I read them, recycle them and then I replace them. On-top of them is the square glass vase that I bought from George Asda and was super cheap. Inside I placed some crystal effect stones to hold the faux flowers up, these were both from a local gardening centre. I then have a purple candle holder with some purple beads that I stole borrowed from my sister and have a single tea light inside.

The tray that holds my perfume is just beautiful. It's from Next and it's shabby chic effect with a mirrored base inside and the perfumes looks so pretty reflecting off it. On the outside of the tray I have two DKNY Be Delicious fragrances: Be Delicious (original) and Fresh Blossom. For my birthday I received a Jo Malone perfume and the box is far too pretty to throw away so I just popped it at the back to display. At the back of the tray I have two Victoria Secrets body mists in Secret Charm and Aqua Kiss. I tend to use these more in the summer time or when I have just stepped out of the shower.

Moving on to the products on the actual tray, at the back there's Lacoste Touch of Pink in the centre with Juicy Couture Couture Couture to the left and Juicy Couture Couture La La to the right. Taylor Swift Wonderstruck and Taylor Swift Wonderstruck Enchanted are on either side of Juicy Couture. I also have Japanese Cherry Blossom by The Body Shop, YSL Cinéma and Jo Malone Peony & Blush Suede.

Finally, the fragrances at the front from left to right are: Elie Saab Eau De Parfum Intense, Guess Girl by Guess, Victoria Beckham Intimately Yours, Taylor by Taylor Swift, Elie Saab Eau De Parfum and finally a tiny sample bottle of Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb.

Recently Debenhams have had lots of little samples lying around their shelves and I decided to grab a few and have stored these just dotted about. I love the smell of Estée Lauder Modern Muse and also Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh, I bought it for my Grandma one year and she loved it.

That's my little shelf and perfume collection, I am trying to use up some of the fragrances now so I can justify buying new ones but they take so long to finish. I really can't decide on my favourites at the moment, it changes all the time with my mood however the one scent that I 100% adore and never get bored of is Juicy Couture's Couture Couture, it's just so unique. I'm very pleased with this set up and can't wait to expand my ever growing perfume collection more.

Which scent is your favourite?

YSL Volume Effet Faux Cils Luxurious Mascara | Review

I haven't reviewed a mascara in a long time, but they have to be one of my favourite make-up products to test out. Just something about finding the perfect mascara to give you the perfect fluttery lashes excites me. I started using this a while ago but I've kept putting this review off and you shall find out why.

In the sales after Christmas, I noticed a YSL beauty set that included a make-up bag, a mini Youth Liberator serum, Touché Eclat concealer and the Volume Effet Faux Cils Luxurious mascara, that name is quite a mouthful. For a couple of weeks I refused to open the box and didn't even unscrew the lid as I didn't want to use the mascara up, silly I know but the packaging is just so pretty and I was so in awe of the fact that I finally popped my YSL cherry that I wanted to saver the products.

I finally decided that enough was enough and started to use it. I must have used the product about 3-4 times to start with and absolutely loved the effect. You can see from the above pictures that it made my lashes appear long and separated, I wouldn't necessarily say my lashes look voluminous but I loved the way they looked afterwards.

My happy high ended pretty quickly though as a couple of days after first opening and using it, it went extremely clumpy, too clumpy to use and it now has a funky smell, so I can only assume it has gone off already which I think is ridiculous. Although it hasn't dried out, the smell is so strong and that wasn't there when I first started using it. Luckily I bought it in a set for about £32.00 which makes it ok-ish as Touché Eclat on it's own is £25.00 so I wasn't that annoyed however if I had bought it normally at £23.00 I would be fuming right now.

I kept putting this review off as I feel awful writing a disappointing  review on such a much loved brand and it really has altered my opinion on YSL mascaras, I've had a couple of other bloggers say they have had the same problem. The only one I do still fancy trying is the YSL Babydoll but I would be worrying everyday if it had gone of yet and if I had wasted my money.

I think it's fair to say that I was more than a little disappointed with this mascara, and I would say that if you're in the market for a new mascara, stick to drug-store, I most probably will be.

Have you tried this mascara? What's your favourite?

Products Worth Mentioning #1

I've decided to start trying out some new products that I've had sitting around or that are new to my collection. Instead of having a hefty favourites post every now and again, I thought it would be nice to start a new series titled Products Worth Mentioning, different items that I think are worthy of a little more time in the spotlight.

BD Barbara Daly Long Wear Eyeshadow - I have only photographed one however all three that I own are great. They remind me of the By Terry shadow sticks but at £3.00 each, they are a complete bargain. They apply and blend really easily and have very minimal creasing, with the shade Shimmer Sand (my favourite) not creasing at all. Wear time is brilliant and once applied, they don't budge, honestly, they are a struggle to remove sometimes. A full review including swatches will be coming soon.

Nivea Vanilla & Macadamia lip butter - I have two other scents from this brand and loved one but kinda loathed the other one, this one though, it's 100% love! It smells incredible and is so soothing on the lips. My lips can be at the driest and a slick of this will sort them out in no time. The best part for me though has to be the scent, it really does smell insanely good, scent alone it's totally worth it.

Maybelline The Rocket waterproof mascara - I have a slight obsession with buying new mascaras and had this one sitting around for a while. I decided to finally use it and I'm glad I did. It creates some beautiful long lashes without any clumps in site. I noticed that during all the crying I've been doing recently that my mascara wasn't smudging, turned out it was waterproof haha, although I didn't realise it was actually the waterproof version when I bought it - silly Claudia. I can happily say though that it doesn't budge and doesn't cause any discomfort when removing, no tugging or pulling here ladies!

What products have you been enjoying recently?

Mr Nutcase Personalized Phone Case

Mr Nutcase - Ultra Light Weight Slimline case* - £14.95 | link

I have a crazy little obsession with phone cases and since getting my iPhone 4S I've been on the hunt for that perfect cute case. When I had my iPhone 3GS there were hardly any places that sold cases for the 3GS and when I did find any, they weren't nice at all so when Mr Nutcase asked if I would like to personalise my own case  I immediately said yes.

Mr Nutcase (makes me giggle that name) sells all kinds of phone cases for different brands of phones and also for other technology products too such as the iPad. There are pre-made cases available however I love that personal touch to making your own.

After a lot of faffing around on my behalf - (I couldn't decide what to have) I finally went for the above quote on a pretty pastel beach/sunset scene that I found on Pinterest. I used Picmonkey to add the quote onto the picture and then just had to adjust the size so that it would fit. Two days later it arrived at my doorstep, super speedy delivery, I am very impressed. The case itself is just plastic so if you drop your phone it should survive it and the quality of the picture is very good, looks really clear and very pretty.

I am more than happy with my new case and I love the design I chose. The Mr Nutcase Team has provided me with a 10% off code for you lovely lot so just add the code Thanku10 at the checkout and enjoy your new case.

What pictures would you have on your phone case?

Beach Day - Outfit Post

Lace bralette - Forever 21 | Top - Gilly Hicks | Shorts - Zara | Flip flops - New Look | Sunglasses - Michael Kors.

If you have read my last post, you will have known that things for my family and I have been extremely tough lately. I mentioned to my Grandpa a couple of days ago about taking a walk down to the beach in the nice weather, to get him out the house and to feel as though he's doing something. We had a lovely time, a nice walk from his house to the seafront and we also bought an ice-cream each. He seemed to enjoy himself, reminiscing about my Grandma and have a little giggle, it was lovely.

When the sun finally came out this morning, I wanted to whip out one of my pretty lace bralettes and love the strappy detail of that top that I paired with it. I love how you can see just a little bit of lace peeking through at the back. My flip-flops are a few years old now but are still going strong, I fancy getting some dainty sandals though for the Summer months. Do you have any recommendations?

Hope you had a lovely time in the sun today. What did you get up to?

This Isn't Goodbye...

12.4.1931 - 14.5.2014

The other night on Twitter I tweeted about how I was taking a short blogging break, I had an influx of tweets saying they hoped I was okay which was very touching. I find sharing things and talking about things easier than bottling situations up and thought that I might as well right a post now explaining.

If you haven't already guessed, I sadly lost my Grandma on Wednesday morning. It's all been such a shock and still hasn't settled in properly yet. She wasn't the normal 83 year old, she was full of energy, did everything herself, was part of the Green Party, constantly singing, dancing, telling stories and baking, so when the phone call came Monday night to say she was in hospital, my world came crashing down. The family all rushed there to be with her and my Grandpa. I'm not going to say what happened but she hung on in there and sadly passed away peacefully Wednesday morning whilst I and other members of the family where by her side

My Grandma Rita - I also gave her the names Nanma, Grimble and Granny for a laugh, was the most loving person in my life. She was a beautiful lady inside and out and although everyone in their family argues, we always made up straight away. I grew up with her, we were so close and she was always there for me. I probably saw her every week sometimes more, and popping over to Nanma's for a cuppa was one of my most favourite things to do, she made the best tea. Christmas will not be the same without her. Every year my mum, brother, sister and I would stay for the whole week from Christmas Eve to New Year's day, eating junk food and staying up until 2am chatting and watching films, Christmas will most definitely be the hardest holiday for me, it's been a tradition to be with my Grandma and Grandpa every year since I was about 5.

I feel as though a part of my life has gone dark and that I'm missing something. I miss her crazy humming/singing that she used to do along to the songs on the radio, I miss her funny giggling after a drop of sherry and I'd tease her saying she was drunk. The time she was whistling Snow Patrols Chasing Cars and not realising, she really liked that song. I miss her like crazy already and I don't know what I'm going to be like once we have her funeral.

Some people may find it strange to write such a personal post on their blog but she used to support mine and read it quite a lot. My Beauty Naturals post and also the Lacura Beauty post where her ideas so I bet she's thrilled to be featured fully haha.

I don't know when I will be back to blogging fully because as much as I miss it and still have ideas popping in my head, I keep zoning out and can't fully concentrate yet. Thank you to everyone who has tweeted me and to a couple of special ladies who have been chatting to me daily on Facebook and Whatsapp, it means a lot that you have all been there for me at this awful time. Brent has been utterly amazing to me through the whole thing, he hasn't left my side and even drove all the way to Colchester to pick my sister up the night Grandma went into hospital, he's been my rock. Grandma apparently told my mum a couple of weeks ago how she considers him family, that broke my heart a little bit but also makes me extremely happy.

Thank you for looking after me every time I was ill growing up, I must have been the only child who wished to be ill so I could spend more time with my wonderful Grandma. Thank you for rummaging food together for my cousin Ashley and I every time we decided we wanted a picnic at the last minute. And thank you for everything you have ever done for me and my family, I will never forget you.

Nanma, I miss you and I love you with all my heart. This isn't Goodbye,
Rest peacefully.

Disappointing Products #2

Back in March I put up my first disappointing products post which is actually titled Worth The Hype because in that post I wasn't really disappointed about the cleanser, it just wasn't what I expected. I don't tend to dislike a lot of products but every now and again, a couple do pop up and I like to share them with you to see if any one else agrees or as a warning I guess, I like to be really honest with my blog content, which means writing about the not so great products as well.

I've used a lot of Soap & Glory products in the past and I love their Flake Away body scrub however I decided to give the Sugar Crush one a try as I'd heard so many great things about it. I adore the scent, the sweet lime gives it a gorgeous and very powerful citrus scent however I really dislike it as a scrub. I find that the sugar and macadamia grains are far too fine and when I take some in my hand and apply it to my body and start to rub it just drops to the floor in chunks. It's such a waste of product and I try to be really careful but it just doesn't spread well. If I try to use as little as possible so I don't waste it, it just doesn't really seem to scrub my body very well at all. I much prefer the Flake Away as it's a little more abrasive and will get that again from now on. However, because I love the scent so much, I will definitely be picking up the Sugar Crush body wash sometime in the future.

I feel with the OPI Correct & Clean Up pen that I might as well have thrown my money down the drain. I bought it with the hope of helping to tidy up lighter polishes as I find Q-tips are too big sometimes and I find it hard to get a clean edge, however after a couple of uses the end of the nib has dried polish on which means that it's now useless to use for any future manicures. If you know of any way to prevent this from happening or to get rid of it so it's re-usable again, please let me know!

If you read my last disappointing products post you would have seen I featured the Yes to Cucumber wipes and didn't get on with them at all. I finished them up any way to not waste them and decided I would try the Yes to Carrots wipes instead as they are claiming to nourish the skin and are fragrance free. My thinking was, fragrance free well they must be fine for sensitive skin then! Well, after using them three times the exact same thing is happening as the cucumber ones, my face goes bright red and after a couple of seconds of stopping, my face just stings like crazy. It's frustrating because they are great quality wipes that remove make-up really well, they just don't agree with my skin at all. I'm determined to try each range though to see if any of them suit my skin, still left to try are: Yes to Blueberries, Grapefruit and Tomatoes

Have you used any of these products?

Toni & Guy Jumbo Tong | Review

Toni & Guy Jumbo Tong - £20.00 | link

Back in March, I featured the Toni & Guy Jumbo Tong in my March Favourites and I'm still rather obsessed with this curler. When I had long hair, I was after something that would create soft subtle waves in my hair and didn't buy this until I had cut all my hair off (pictures taken before I did my ombre.) I grabbed this because it was cheap, £20.00 you can't really complain considering most hair tools are over £50.00 mark.

The Toni & Guy Jumbo Curling Tong has a 38mm barrel which creates the gorgeous soft waves, it also has a dial so you can chose the temperature, the highest being 200c. It says it is designed to protect your hair and colour with the ceramic tourmaline coated barrel which is also supposed to enhance shine, protect your hair against frizz and make it smooth and lock in the colour. It all sounds rather fancy and in all honesty, sounds like rubbish to me, I bought it purely for the size of the barrel.

It took me a little while to get the hang of using it as I haven't used a curling wand with a clip in about 8 years, I also had to practice getting the direction right so that my hair would lie in a nice way but now I have the hang of it, I can curl my hair within 10 minutes. The tong does heat up very quickly, I'd say it's ready within roughly 30 seconds, maybe even quicker than that, I love how fast it is.

Once my hair is curled, it looks like the pictures above, soft messy waves that look natural, like you haven't put any effort in. I always use a heat protecting spray in my hair but I still haven't noticed any frizziness after applying the heat, my hair is still soft and smooth without any tangles. I personally don't  notice any difference in the colour of my hair after using it. The curls do last a decent amount of time in my hair, by the end of the day they have fallen out a lot but I'm still left with soft kinks and waves here and there that actually looks really nice and the next day just looks like I have a very soft natural curl.

I think this tong is great for shorter hair styles, I feel that with longer hair the curls might fall out quicker but since I never used this on my long hair I can't say for sure. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for that messy "I woke up like this" wavy hair, if you want more defined curls, I'd stick with the clip-less curling wands with a smaller barrel instead.

Have you tried this curling tong? What's your favourite styling tool to use?

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water | Review

I know what you're thinking, "Not another cleansing water review?" Well I couldn't agree more however I just wanted to get my thoughts out there and will try and keep this short and sweet for you. It's no secret that I am 100% obsessed with micellar waters, I used to be quite lazy with my skincare but know have an actual set routine and I like using these cleansing waters as a quick refresh in the mornings and also to get the last dregs of any make-up sitting on my skin.

The Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water promises to remove make-up, cleanse the skin and soothe it, even sensitive skin. It's also stating that it can be used on the eyes, lips and face however it doesn't state anywhere that it removes waterproof mascara. Luckily I don't wear waterproof any more, too much of a pain in the ass. If you've read my blog for a while, you will know that I have tried the L'oreal 3-in-1 micellar water, the B.Pure Micellar Water and also, my favourite so far; Bioderma. I look for a cleansing water that doesn't strip the skin, keeps it feeling hydrated and most importantly, removes eye make-up. So far for me, only Bioderma removes all kinds of make-up off my skin without tugging and pulling and therefore has earnt it's well deserved top spot.

I can happily say that the Garnier water is so close to knocking my beloved Bioderma off said top spot. It removes make-up effortlessly without a struggle, my skin doesn't feel tight, stripped or irritated afterwards and the best thing for me, it removes eye make-up. I don't wear heavy eye make-up everyday and when I do I use a specific eye make-up remover, but this definitely removes light eye make-up and mascara without leaving anything behind. I don't have to rub my eyes like crazy to get the mascara off, it just glides off with every wipe that I do.

For £4.99 in most supermarkets, or drug-stores, this micellar water is a complete bargain as you get a whopping 400ml of product. If I didn't already have two bottles of Bioderma waiting in the wings I would repurchase this in a heart beat!

Which micellar water is your favourite?

Double Book Review | Tess Gerritsen & Chris Mooney

As you all know, I am a bit of a bookworm and used to always write single book reviews for the avid book readers like myself, I love discovering new reads. I haven't finished a book fully in a long time but recently, finished two within about a month. I took to Twitter and asked if anyone would like me to review them and I got a couple of people saying they wanted me too so here we are! I decided to write two book reviews in one for you today. Just to let you know my taste in books is 90% crime thrillers with about 10% other, so if you're looking for some lovey, chick flick romance review, this isn't one haha, but maybe in the future.

Chris Mooney - The Soul Collectors

I've read a book by Chris Mooney before and I enjoyed it but this book, was a-mazing. I was staying up till past midnight reading it, walking around reading it and even whilst I was making tea, I was addicted to it. It has really short chapters which I love in books as I find them easier to read and I end up finishing them quicker as I also think "One more chapter" and the next thing I've read 10.

The storyline in The Soul Collectors was so gripping and such a page turner. It's actually the 4th book in the Darby McCormick series which I didn't realise at the time. I don't like to give too much a way but it's about a CSI for Boston PD - Darby is called to a scene where a child, who went missing 10 years ago is holding his family at gunpoint, and it's about Darby getting to the bottom of everything, where he has been the past 10 years and why he is threatening his family. It gave me chills at some points and the ending is what I can only describe as powerful, I was left with my mouth hanging opening and repeating the words "Oh my god!" Probably one of the best books I've ever read.

Since finishing this book, in 6 days I might add, not my quickest but still pretty impressive, I have bought another 4 books of his. I've purchased the rest of the series and another stand alone novel, I also bought the book of his I have already read as that's actually the 3rd book in the series above and I want to read it again. If you're looking for face paced crime thriller which will give you chills, this is a must read! And little tip, I buy most of my books either in charity shops or from Play.com as the used ones are sometimes less than £1.50, total bargain.

Tess Gerritsen - Last to Die

If you've read my book reviews before, you will have noticed how much I love Tess Gerristen's books. She was formally a Doctor and all her books are so scientific and accurate, they are incredibly interesting. Last to Die is the latest book in the Rizzoli & Isles series, you may know the TV series Rizzoli & Isles which isn't really based on the books at all any more but still a brilliant series, I love it. I have read every single book in this series and I do thoroughly enjoy them.

Last to Die is about Rizzoli and Isles getting locked inside a high security boarding school along with some students. There's been a murder within the grounds and it's up to them to find out who the killer is and if they are already on the property. As much as I love this series, I did find this book and the twists to be a little extravagant and it took me about 3 weeks to read as I didn't find it as gripping and tense as the rest of her books. I did enjoy it and I definitely will continuing buying the new ones she releases.

I hope this post has brought some new books to your attention, I can't recommend The Soul Collectors enough, it's just brilliant! I can't wait for the other books to arrive so I can read some more by him, I can see myself becoming a book reading hermit again!

What's your favourite book at the moment?
