Beauty Swap with Alexandra – The A Style

November 27, 2014
1

I love reading Alexandra’s blog The A Style and I commented on one of her posts mentioning that I would love to try the product. She kindly said she would send them to me and we began sending emails back and forth and it went from a small little swap to a huge list sent to each other and spreading it over 4 months. Needless to say, I was so excited when my box arrived. I hate the fact that England have to pay custom charges and tax but after paying for my box at the postage office that was keeping it hostage, I finally got to rip into it in the car. There was a lot of squealing and OMG’s throughout the unveiling.

Lips

I can’t believe how many EOS lipbalms Alexandra sent me, I love them so much and these all smell incredible. I received the Ray of Sunshine holiday collection box containing Orange BlossomPink Grapefruit and Strawberry Kiwi. I also received the single lip balm of Pomegranate Raspberry which I have been after for so long!

The Maybelline Babylips are what started the swap off in the first place and I love the ones that she sent me. Babylips Crystal in Beam of Blush and Gleaming Coral, they smell divine! Also a Dr Rescue in Coral Crave which is a medicated balm and feels fab on the lips.

I love lip crayons and asked for Sonia Kashuk Velvety Matte Lip Crayon in the shade Coraly Nude. It’s such a pretty shade and will look amazing around Christmas time. Alexandra also popped in a couple of Flower products which I have never heard of before. One being a Kiss Stick in the shade Sweet Peony, it’s a beautiful nude pink, my favourite type of shade.

Finally, NYX Butter Glosses and Xtreme Lip Cream where high on my list. I never order NYX online and they don’t stock it in any local Next stores near me. I received one Xtreme Cream in the shade Nude Peach Fuzz and three of the Butter Glosses in the shades Creme BruleeVanilla Cream Pie and Eclair. They are all such pretty shades and I can’t wait to try them all.

Face

For face products, I went a little crazy with the baked products, I just love them and feel the need to try them all! Alexandra asked me if I wanted to try the Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso and immediately said yes as it was something I was going to add to my list. I also asked for the Milani Baked Bronzer in the shade Glow which is just beautiful. Two products from Hard Candy which I have never tried before, a gorgeous blush in the shade Living Doll, a beautiful pink with a light highlighting shade running through it. Also, a bronzer in the shade Tiki which I chose because it’s so light, it can easily pass off as a highlighter and it’s beautiful!

I asked for another Maybelline The Eraser Eye concealer which you can buy in the UK but it’s always out of stock. And finally, the Covergirl & Olay Tone Rehab foundation which I think may be a little dark but I can make it work. I just wanted to give it a try and see what it was like, I always love Covergirl foundations.

Eyes

Most of the products are from Maybelline, I just love them as a brand! Alexandra kindly added The Nudes palette into my swap which is amazing, I’m going to start using it today. A Color Tattoo Leather Effect in the shade Chocolate Suede which is so pretty, a deep chocolate brown with a slight gold shimmer in it. Two Color Tattoo Pure Pigments in the shades Improper Copper and Buff & Tuff which are both fab shades for this time of year for creating a brown smoky eye. Finally, the other Flower product was a cream shadow in Wind Geranium which is a true rose gold shade, so pretty!

I was so surprised when Alexandra had told me she had picked up the Sephora Favourites Draw The Line set for me. It’s so beautifully packaged and I will be writing a separate review on it. It contains 5 different eyeliners and 2 different felt tip eyeliners. I didn’t realised a Marc Jacobs pencil was included and so I’m super excited to give it a try.

For mascaras I asked for my old faithful, Covergirl Clump Crusher which I’ve had before and loved and wanted to use it again. Last but not least, Physicians Formula Organic Wear mascara which just looked so funky and cute.

I am so so grateful to Alexandra for sending me such a fabulous box of goodies and I can’t wait to try it all. Thank you so so much! You were so generous and I really hope you loved your box too! If you want to see what I picked up for Alexandra, you can do so here!

Which products would you like to see a review on? Have you tried any of the products?

Beauty swaps are such a fab idea. I bought faaar to much make up when I was in the US but there was so much I wanted to try. I really like the Hard Candy products I picked up ( a CC cream and some eye stuff) but I'd be interested to hear what you thought of their blushes.

I always go crazy in the US with make-up, it's so hard not too when everything is so cheap. The highlighter so far is pretty darn incredible! :) x

Claudia, I am soooo happy you are happy with everything I sent you!! I did buy so many things because I just kept seeing so many things that I knew you would enjoy! I did make a mistake with the Butter Gloss but didn't want to bring back the colors so added the original shade you wanted!! It was loads of fun to do this! Hopefully we can do one again in a year or something!! :) xx
