Disappointing Products #3

I haven’t been disappointed with many products, this is the thirst post of it’s kind so far which is a good sign. However, I was going through my stash the other day and came across a couple of products that I hardly used because they didn’t impress me and one that I loved at first but changed my mind.

Simple Kind To Skin Moisturising Face Wash Simple is a brand specifically made for sensitive skin, I’ve used their moisturiser when I was younger and also have used some of their face wipes over the years. I bought this travel size face wash for a trip, I think maybe for Rome last year but stopped using it because it was awful. I then tried it a couple more times recently and actually tweeted about how bad it was. It made my face bright red and had a horrible burning sensation. My skin felt incredibly dry and tight as well. I have to say, the experience has made me never want to use Simple again but I do want to try their new skin illuminator, however I just don’t think I trust the products. I can’t believe a brand that’s targeted at sensitive skin caused that reaction, I don’t even have sensitive skin it’s just dry.

Burt’s Bee’s Beeswax Lipbalm I bought this last year and was so excited for it to come. When it arrived it took me about 15 minutes to get the darn thing open, the lid is so stiff! I tried to use it but barely any product comes off when you rub your finger in it to apply. I’ve hoped that over time it’s melted a bit but it’s still bad. I have to rub my finger in the pot at least 10 times just to get enough lipbalm on to one lip let alone both. It also isn’t that moisturising and it doesn’t last very long on the lips either. I think I will definitely be sticking to my Maybelline Babylips and Korres lip butters in the future.

YSL Forever Youth Liberator Serum When I first started using it, I really loved it. It made my skin feel really soft and smooth and my moisturiser and make-up all sat on top of it really well. Then I started using the Avené Soothing Hydrating Serum and came to realise that this one wasn’t actually anything special. For a fraction of the price I actually prefer the Avené one as it left my skin feeling hydrated all throughout the day whereas this one was more, “once applied it’s smooth but that’s your lot” type thing, it didn’t have any long term benefits. You also need a lot if you want to do all your face and neck properly so this small 15ml didn’t last long at all, I just don’t think it’s worth the price when you can buy the Avené one for less and achieve more. I still really want to try the Youth Liberator foundation though!

Have you tried any of these items? What were your thoughts on them?
