Empties #7

Label M moisturising conditioner* – Repurchase: No.

This made my hair really soft and it did smell ok (the shampoo smelt like chlorine) but it’s not the best that I’ve ever tried.

John Frieda Frizz Ease Perfecting Creme – Repurchase: Yes if I ever needed to.

I’ve had this for about 5 years, back then I had frizzy hair that used to bug the hell out of me but since I’ve become obsessed with beauty, I haven’t needed to use this. There’s still some left but it’s so old I’m just throwing it away. It did work at making my hair less frizzy though.

Johnson’s Baby shampoo – Repurchase: Yes (already have)

I use this for washing my make-up brushes and this huge 500ml bottle lasted for about a year. It’s perfect for brush washing. Makes them really soft, doesn’t strip the brushes and cleans them really well.

Bath & Body

Elemis Skin Nourishing body lotion* – Repurchase: No I wouldn’t buy this myself.

This took such a long to use up, I used it every time I had a shower but it never seemed to get any less. I liked how fast this dried on my skin and it did make it really soft but the smell really put me off. Wasn’t that nice at all.

Lush Ponche 250g & 100g shower gel – Repurchase: Yes.

If you read my blog regularly, you will know that I adore this stuff. It’s only available at Christmas time and it reminds me of Christmas whenever I smell it. It’s kinda hit and miss in the beauty world but I personally love the orange scent – with a hint of tequila!

Lush Prince Charming shower gel* – Repurchase: Yes.

This did smell really nice and left my skin feeling very soft.

So…? Sinful body spray – Repurchase: No.

I was given 4 different sprays in a set for a present a while ago and have only just gotten round to finishing this one. I say it every time but I’m not a body spray person, I’m definitely a perfume gal and body mists in the summer. I also wasn’t too fond of the smell of this one either.

Taylor by Taylor Swift body lotion – Repurchase: No.

This came in a set when I bought the perfume but I’m never really a fan of the scented body lotion, I find the scents are always far too strong for my liking and if you use this lotion, you have no choice but to use the perfume for that day too. Don’t get me wrong, I love the scent, just not in the lotion.

Cutex Nourishing nail polish remover – Repurchase: Yes.

Bit boring I know but I love this stuff. It removes nail polish really well, smells great (not all chemically like most) and doesn’t weaken my nails. It’s my favourite nail polish remover.

Boots Cuticle Oil – Repurchase: No.

This is another really really old product and there’s still loads left but it’s rubbish. It just didn’t do anything except make my hands really greasy.

Avon Nail Experts Grow Potion – Repurchase: No.

This is also really old and I did use it a lot in the hope that it was doing something, but it wasn’t doing anything at all. I will stick to my OPI Nail Envy forever.

Lancome dry skin cleanser – Repurchase: No (but possibly in the future if I wanted something I knew would work)

Back when I first started obsessing over skincare, I was all about the Lancome products. I loved this cleanser for using after I’d taken my make-up off. I stopped using it as I started testing out loads of other products. Sadly it’s about 4 years old now and felt that it probably wasn’t doing my skin any good.

Lancome dry skin toner – Repurchase: No (but possibly in the future if I wanted something I knew would work)

The same as the above, both products were really good at keeping my skin fresh and smooth and didn’t dry them out at all but my obsession with both have sadly passed.

Perricone MD Intensive Pore Minimizer* – Repurchase: Yes but it’s so expensive.

If you read my recent posts on this, then you will know that I really liked this product. Applied twice a day, I found that my pores did appear less visible but didn’t disappear completely. I’m sure this is the reason why my skin became more clear, it just seemed to rid my skin of anything bad lurking beneath.

Garnier Express 2 in 1 eye make-up remover – Repurchase: Yes.

I bought this on a whim and ended up really liking it. It’s oil based and has to be shaken up really well before every use to mix the oils together but it’s great at breaking down eye make-up, including waterproof mascara. I’ve nearly finished my second bottle too.

Bioderma H20 Micellar Water – Repurchase: Yes.

I love this stuff, so much! I personally think it’s the best micellar out there and I’ve used a lot. I recently traded a bottle with my sister so I could have something of hers but I still have another bottle left to use. It’s just amazing at removing make-up completely and also eye make-up too.

Skincare continued

Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish – Repurchase: No.

I love using this in the shower but not the normal way it’s supposed to be used. In the shower once the hot water has opened my pores a bit, I use this and it leaves my skin feeling so clean and soft. It also doesn’t dry it out at all. I was dissapointed that it didn’t work very well for me the normal way. If I just use this over a face full of make-up I get in such a mess and it doesn’t really do anything for my skin. I do have another bottle to use that Gemma (Makeup Magpie) sent me but I don’t think I would buy it for myself again.

Garnier Moisture Match moisturiser – Repurchase: Yes.

I bought this on a whim when I was low on moisturiser but didn’t have enough to splash out on my Clinique one again. I actually really liked this. Made my skin super soft and smooth and was great underneath make-up. It really helped with my dry patches too.

Avené Soothing Hydrating Serum* – Repurchase: Yes

I love the brand Avené and adored this product so much. The packaging is super cute too. It made my skin feel really soft and supple and was great underneath the Garnier moisturiser. As soon as I can afford it, I will buy this.

Avené Gently Purifying Scrub – Repurchase: No.

I’m still not 100% sold on this product. I also don’t like the fact that you can’t get all the product out, it’s really frustrating. I don’t think this scrub is abrasive enough for my skin but when I do use it, it doesn’t dry me out which is great. I do have another bottle that I won on Avené’s Facebook page but I think I will stick to my St.Ive’s in the future.

YSL Forever Youth Liberator serum – Repurchase: No.

When I first used this, I absolutely loved it but the more I used it the more I started to dislike it. I started to use the Avené serum at the same time and noticed that although the YSL one made my skin soft, it wasn’t as good at the Avené one.

Simple Face Wash – Repurchase: No.

I despise this wash so much. Simple is a brand that’s supposed to be for sensitive dry skin but this just made my skin bright red, itchy and more dry than it was. I stopped using it immediately and I’m so picky with Simple products now.

Skincare – Face Wipes

Yes to Cucumber face wipes – Repurchase: No.

I’ve written about these and they really didn’t agree with my skin. They made my face red and sting a lot. I carried on using them and it wasn’t as bad as the beginning but not great. I was sent some to review (I wasn’t told that they were sending them, they added them in as a surprise) but I’ve been using them again and my skin doesn’t react as much as it did.

Yes to Carrots face wipes – Repurchase: No.

These made my skin react badly as well but nowhere near as much as the cucumber ones. I actually preferred these but don’t think I would  buy them again.

Ole Henriksen Truth to Go wipes – Repurchase: Yes.

I bought these because everyone keeps saying how amazing they are but they are right! They smell incredible and they make my skin so incredibly smooth and soft. Just a shame a big packet is so expensive as they are probably the best wipes I’ve ever used.

Skincare – Face Masks

Montagne Jaunesse De-Clog Pores strips – Repurchase: Yes.

I love using these as they really help clear out the blackheads. It’s hard to find nose strips anywhere any more but I found these in Asda and stocked up. Shame there’s only 3 in a pack but they are a bargain at £1.49.

Montagne Jaunesse Manuka-Honey Peel Off mask – Repurchase: Yes.

This mask is so lovely and refreshing for the skin. It’s brilliant for my dry skin, really hydrates it and leaves it feeling really smooth and soft. It’s strangely satisfying to peel off as well, it that weird?

Montagne Jaunesse Nut Oil mask – Repurchase: Yes.

This smelt really nice, it stung a bit when I applied it on my skin but once that passed it was fine. Left my skin feeling so great and smooth.

Garnier Pure Self-Heating Sauna mask – Repurchase: No.

I bought this because I love self-heating masks and it sounded amazing. However, it didn’t self-heat at all and to be honest, it didn’t even dry. I didn’t like it, and I wouldn’t buy it again as it didn’t do anything for my skin.

Lancome Colour Design palette – Repurchase: No.

This is super old and I probably got it when I bought the Lancome cleanser and toner above as a freebie. I did use it a lot at the time but then I got bored of it. The eyeshadows aren’t that great for pigmentation and now that it’s so old, it smells funky.

MAC eyelash curlers – Repurchase: No.

I’ve had these for about 4 years and changed the spongy bit when I could but now I don’t have any left and I don’t know what to do with them. I don’t think you can buy that bit separately and they are utterly useless now. They were okay for my lashes, didn’t curl them that fantastically though.

Carmex Cherry lipbalm – Repurchase: Yes.

This is just a basic lipbalm and the first one that I have used up fully. It smelt amazing but did sting on sore lips. However, it was fab for using throughout the day and made my lips soft and smooth really quickly.

Eyeko Skinny Mini liquid eyeliner – Repurchase: No.

This was free in a magazine and I’m glad I didn’t pay full price for it as it dried out really quickly. I used it about 3-4 times before it was useless. It was a good eyeliner though, made cat eyes/flicks really easy. Luckily Company (I think) always have it as a freebie so I never have to buy it.

NYX Super Skinny Eye Maker – Repurchase: Yes.

This was a great eyeliner and lasted for so long. It’s the same as the Eyeko liner, a felt-tip applicator that makes lining the eyes super quick and easy.

Rimmel Exaggerate Eyeliner – Repurchase: No.

If you can’t tell, I love my felt-tip eyeliners, makes things so much easier. This was easy to apply but it rubbed off really easily, it didn’t last long at all.

Maybelline 24hr Colour Tattoo Eternal Gold – Repurchase: No.

I have about 8 of these in different shades and this is the only shade to completely dry up. It’s un-usable and it’s really frustrating because it’s the newest one. I love all the other colours and formulas but not this one.

Elizabeth Arden Double Density mascara– Repurchase: Yes.

I loved this mascara, it created such lovely fluttery thick lashes and kept the curl all day long. It did dry out pretty quickly though.

Rituals Volume Mascara – Repurchase: No.

This is another magazine freebie but I don’t really remember anything special about this. It separated my lashes quite nicely but that’s about it.

Natural Collection Clear Mascara – Repurchase: Yes (already have)

I’ve bought so many of these as they are perfect for setting my eyebrows. They are really cheap at £1.99 and get the job done.
