As you all know, I am a bit of a bookworm and used to always write single book reviews for the avid book readers like myself, I love discovering new reads. I haven’t finished a book fully in a long time but recently, finished two within about a month. I took to Twitter and asked if anyone would like me to review them and I got a couple of people saying they wanted me too so here we are! I decided to write two book reviews in one for you today. Just to let you know my taste in books is 90% crime thrillers with about 10% other, so if you’re looking for some lovey, chick flick romance review, this isn’t one haha, but maybe in the future.
PIN IT!Chris Mooney – The Soul Collectors
I’ve read a book by Chris Mooney before and I enjoyed it but this book, was a-mazing. I was staying up till past midnight reading it, walking around reading it and even whilst I was making tea, I was addicted to it. It has really short chapters which I love in books as I find them easier to read and I end up finishing them quicker as I also think “One more chapter” and the next thing I’ve read 10.
The storyline in The Soul Collectors was so gripping and such a page turner. It’s actually the 4th book in the Darby McCormick series which I didn’t realise at the time. I don’t like to give too much a way but it’s about a CSI for Boston PD – Darby is called to a scene where a child, who went missing 10 years ago is holding his family at gunpoint, and it’s about Darby getting to the bottom of everything, where he has been the past 10 years and why he is threatening his family. It gave me chills at some points and the ending is what I can only describe as powerful, I was left with my mouth hanging opening and repeating the words “Oh my god!” Probably one of the best books I’ve ever read.
Since finishing this book, in 6 days I might add, not my quickest but still pretty impressive, I have bought another 4 books of his. I’ve purchased the rest of the series and another stand alone novel, I also bought the book of his I have already read as that’s actually the 3rd book in the series above and I want to read it again. If you’re looking for face paced crime thriller which will give you chills, this is a must read! And little tip, I buy most of my books either in charity shops or from Play.com as the used ones are sometimes less than £1.50, total bargain.
PIN IT!Tess Gerritsen – Last to Die
If you’ve read my book reviews before, you will have noticed how much I love Tess Gerristen’s books. She was formally a Doctor and all her books are so scientific and accurate, they are incredibly interesting. Last to Die is the latest book in the Rizzoli & Isles series, you may know the TV series Rizzoli & Isles which isn’t really based on the books at all any more but still a brilliant series, I love it. I have read every single book in this series and I do thoroughly enjoy them.
Last to Die is about Rizzoli and Isles getting locked inside a high security boarding school along with some students. There’s been a murder within the grounds and it’s up to them to find out who the killer is and if they are already on the property. As much as I love this series, I did find this book and the twists to be a little extravagant and it took me about 3 weeks to read as I didn’t find it as gripping and tense as the rest of her books. I did enjoy it and I definitely will continuing buying the new ones she releases.
I hope this post has brought some new books to your attention, I can’t recommend The Soul Collectors enough, it’s just brilliant! I can’t wait for the other books to arrive so I can read some more by him, I can see myself becoming a book reading hermit again!
What’s your favourite book at the moment?

Working in a book store for the last six years I have had quite a few people recommend to me the Tess Gerritsen books however up until now I've yet to try them. They really do sound quite good, I might have to pick up the first one soon.

YAY! A book post 🙂
I love crime thriller books too and I've not read anything from either of these Authors! Ooot Ohhh! You've set me off with something new. The Soul Collectors sounds just up my street *adds to basket* haha. I always order my books from Play.com or Amazon too – so much cheaper and they hardly ever look used.

I love Tess Gerritsen's books! I've ripped through all of the Rizzoli & Isles ones so far but got distracted before I finished the series. Shame the last one isn't as gripping as the others but thanks for reminding me about them!
