How To: Halloween Addition – Cuts Using Ben Nye Nose & Scar Wax

Halloween is fast approaching and it’s one of my most favourite times of the year, I love the atmosphere and being scared out of my wits. I don’t usually have anywhere I can go for Halloween, however this year Brent and I have a fancy dress party to go to. I can’t wait, we are both dressing up as Zombies because we love The Walking Dead TV show and thought I would share with you how I plan to do the make-up for the both of us.

Last year I showed you an easy affordable way to create Rotting Flesh using toilet paper and this year I will be using Ben Nye Nose & Scar Wax.

Step One

Take a make-up spatula or any flat sturdy tool and apply the Ben Nye Nose & Scar Wax to the area that you want your cut to be. Flatten out the edges as best as you can to make the area look more realistic.

Optional You can apply Spirit Gum first to help the wax stay on better. Also, if you are applying to the face, blend a concealer over the top to help the wax blend into the skin.

Step Two

Using the make-up spatula, drag it along the wax to create a cut, you can do this however you like, I chose to create a cut on the palm of my hand.

Optional You can apply Liquid Latex to seal the wax.

Step Three

Spray water or MAC Fix+ onto black face-paint, I used one by Snazaroo and apply this directly onto the “cut.” This will make the cut look deeper and more realistic.

Optional – You can use a black eyeshadow instead of a face-paint.

Step Four

Pour some theatre blood over the “cut” and dab in using a make-up sponge to blend. I used Snazaroo Special Fx Theatre Blood however it’s stains like crazy so I recommend using a different theatre blood.

And that’s how you create this gory cut. It’s really easy and fun to do. To remove it, I just pushed it off using the make-up spatula and then used soap and water to clean any residue off. If you do try this out, tweet me pictures to @Beauty18Claudia, I’d love to see them! I will be doing more Halloween looks soon so keep your eyes posted!

What are you dressing up as this year?
