Happy Halloween - Ghost Stories

We heart it

If you haven't guessed by now, I love Halloween. It's my second favourite time of the year, after Christmas of course and I get so excited when October comes around every year. I would love to spend Halloween over in the States one year. I love how they go all out with the decorating and dressing up, it's just amazing and looks so much fun. I sadly didn't go out this year so I couldn't dress up, hopefully next year. Anyway, I'm a complete horror movie buff. I love my scary films and now I've seen so many that I guess the twists from about 15 minutes in and hardly ever get scared. The only film that has ever played on my mind is the re-make of The Women In Black. I've seen the stage show twice and I'm seeing it again this December and it freaks the hell out of me. I always scare myself by thinking she's standing behind my door watching me, so now I can never fall asleep with my back to the rest of the room, I have to be facing it...which is odd since you'd think I'd want to not be able to see but the thought of her watching me without me being able to see anything freaks me out!

Anyway, enough of my weird and wonderful....weirdness, I thought as it's Halloween, I'd share some freaky deaky experiences that I've experienced recently and things that have happened to my friends and family. Feel free to de-bunk anything, but these are just the honest ones that I am certain couldn't be anything but supernatural.

My Experiences

The first major thing happened to me when I was in year 11 at school. I shut my wardrobe and my school picture fell onto the floor, I looked at it and thought "I'll pick that up in a minute" I then went downstairs and had a chat with my mum and when I went back up, it was back on top of the wardrobe. My mum reckons I did it without realizing but I swear, I remember thinking that I'll pick it up later.

I don't have your usual open close door, it folds in half so I usually leave it a tiny bit ajar. My cat always sleeps on my bed and a while ago when it was just me and my him, he suddenly sat up, his ears went up, and he sat watching the gap through my door. There wasn't a single sound to have made him jump unless he saw something, and then I heard this really faint voice calling a name. It sounded like it was being whispered through my door from the landing. I couldn't hear which name, it just sounded like someone was calling someone. A similar thing happened about 2 months ago, he was asleep and suddenly sat up and then I heard, from the same direction, a little girl's high pitch giggle. Strangely enough, it didn't scare me too much.

About a year ago, I was in the house alone and was making tea in the kitchen. I heard clear whistling coming from the dining room. My house is room after room going back, there's no hall ways and no windows were open, and next doors door wasn't open. It was so clear, I went into the room expecting to see someone. That freaked me out enough, but it wasn't until I told my mum about it and she said she heard the same thing but didn't say anything because she didn't want to scare me that made it 10 times worse!

In my shower, it's a 2 space one where you walk in one side and the shower is in the next. We keep all our stuff on the base of the shower standing up. I was about to get in the shower when everything just went crashing down into the middle. It was so weird. My sister said that when she was in there once, she put her loufy on the floor and when she went to pick it up, it was stuck by the sucky thing on the wall.

I've had two crazy experiences outside of my house, one in Churchill's and one in an Adult College near me. Both times I was in a toilet cubicle when I heard the main door open, footsteps come in and lock a door. Then I walk out of my cubicle to find no one else in there and no door shut. They both happened in the last month.

I've had other random things happen like objects moving. That happens all the time. And it can get annoying when you're in a hurry and something isn't where you left it.

One last thing that happened was about a month ago, I was lying on my bed on my side watching YouTube videos and my cat was at my feet. I then felt the bed move and felt something come up to my left side of my ear, like breathing or sniffing. I turned in the direction expecting to see my cat, only he was fast asleep at my feet. For the first time ever, I actually tried calling out by saying, "Is there anyone here with me?" but nothing happened.

My mum's experiences

She has a tone. Her scariest are from a job she had in the 80's in a shop in my Town. But they are so hard to describe in writing so I'll try my best, I don't want to bore you too much. But basically, they had a dog and he refused to go down into the dark room (it was a printers so they had a dark room) he apparently always whimpered and wouldn't move from the door way. They had a new guy who worked the night shift and after 2 weeks said he was never going back and was never going down in that room again. My mum was typing one night on and old 80's computer/typewriter. She stopped typing and picked up her tea when the computer carried on typing random letters. She said it was probably because she types so fast, I said that it would've spelt out what you had just put, not random letters. The last thing I remember her telling me about that place is that she was in the dark room one night, and because you can't see anything, you have a set routine on how you do things and put everything in the same place. She was changing a roll for something and set it down on one side, when she went to pick it back up again, she couldn't find it.....it was on the opposite side.

At my Grandmas house, my mum saw the back door open and someone walk off to the side into the conservatory  My mum got up to go out the back and say hello to my Grandad, when he walked through the front door. My mum quizzed him asking if he'd just been through the back door, but he was dead serious saying he hadn't.

One Christmas my mum put a jumper on the bannister at my Grandma's house, when she went to get it, she couldn't find it anywhere. She searched everywhere and asked everyone if they'd moved it, to then find it back where she had left it. Another time similar to that happened just the other day. Ages ago my mum was looking for my Brother's snowboarding coat, she searched everywhere and under all the beds at my Grandma's house (she has about 6 bedrooms) and the coat wasn't to be found. My mum checked one bed a couple of days ago and there it was, in a bag under the bed. My Grandma is certain she didn't put it there.

A quick random thing is that apparently my Auntie did a Quiji board when she was younger and still to this day my mum won't tell me what happened because it scares her so much.

My friend's experiences

My old friend I used to work with used to come into work with all her frightening tails of activity that was happening in her flat. To not go into too much detail, she's had boxes of lego thrown across her son's bedroom, rustling in the living room when it was the middle of the night. Her partner was staying over one night when they were both awoken by the bedroom door opening, footsteps coming in and both their feet got tickled. She always used to hear footsteps, lights turning on and even her son used to ask why his door kept opening. It used to give me the chills listening to the tales. Things started happening to her partner too, then one day things came to an abrupt end. Her partner's glass cabinet shattered and fell over except one picture and on the same day, my friend was asleep on her couch when she heard a gasp in her ear that woke her up (think Paranormal Activity 2 when the girl is asleep on the couch and is then suddenly woken up) Ever since that day, things have stopped for them.

I know this post won't be to everyone's taste, but I personally am so fascinated by it all. I've never seen an apparition, so even after all that has happened to me, I still don't 100% believe in spirits. I am dying to do some kind of investigating. Would be dream come true to be on Ghost Hunters, I love that show, even though I think everything is heightened. But anyway, I hope you enjoyed this post, leave a comment with any spooky happnings to you, I would love to hear about them, until then,

HAPPY HALLOWEEN

Bobbi - A lifestyle post

I've seen a lot of people blogging about their pets recently and thought I'd join in. I love animals and since recently starting a new job at a vets, I love them even more. Especially cats. So I shall tell the story on my lil kitty....not so little....
I have wanted a cat for ages. My family used to have one when I was about 3 but she was a devil and not good around children so we had to give her away. My mum always said no, and I used to nag and nag her. Then one Boxing day I just asked her, and she randomly said yes. I couldn't quite believe it, and the next thing I knew we were looking online for breeders.

I got Bobbi nearly two years ago now. He was an early 21st birthday present from, my then boyfriend. I first saw him at 5 weeks old and the lady told me he was a girl, it wasn't until I picked him/her up 2 weeks later at 7 weeks that the lady had discovered he was actually a boy. She was all worried but honestly I didn't mind. His name was going to be Bobbi whether he was a boy or not.

So where did the name come from? Well, I always said if I get a boy, he'll be named after Bobby Singer from the hit TV program, Supernatural as I am obsessed with that show and love his character. And if I got a girl.....yes you guessed it, after Bobbi Brown. I had already had his special name tag and registered him as Bobbi and so I didn't change the spelling. He's a bundle of joy that enjoys eating curry and scones and nibbling your feet. He also meows like crazy for you to go into the garden to play "grass" with him. This is just fetch with big blades of grass....he also plays fetch with paper and brings it back to you...I swear he thinks he's a dog sometimes.

5 weeks old...

7 weeks old...

Getting bigger...

A couple of months ago he broke his paw...the vet thinks he got run over :(

The best thing is that he likes what I like....
Top row - He likes Taylor Swift, sleeping, blogging and making a scrap book
Bottom row - Lounging around, shopping and watching Ghost Hunters

I love him to pieces. I also call him Pookie alot and tweet pictures of him all the time. His paw is finally all better however he's now over weight. He literally eats anything. He's eaten my toast, pizza, curry, peaches and cream, scones with jam on, pom bears...to name a few! I try my best to keep stuff out of his reach but he doesn't stop until he has your food! It didn't help that while his paw was healing, he had to be kept in a cage :( so he didn't have any exercise for about 2 months! I know not everyone loves animals as much as me and probably think this is a bit boring, but I like to do something different from the usual beauty and fashion posts every now and again. I hope you enjoyed this post :)

Do you have any pets? If not and you want one, what would you want? I also want another a Ragdoll cat  and a teacup Yorkie :)

How to: DIY Rotting flesh

I was so excited for Halloween, but after getting a new job and this and that, my plan of posting a different look a week sadly fell through. Guess I'll have to wait until next year now. I thought I would get my last little look in. This is how to create dead flesh. It's so SO simple. I don't have special putty or spirit gum, just Duo lash glue and toilet paper.....Yep, you read correct, toilet paper.

Edited - By me

STEP ONE:
Put any brand of good lash glue on your hand or on a plate. Rip up tissue into small sections to however you would like, and dab it all in the glue.

STEP TWO:
Using a make-up brush that you're not worried about ruining, dab the tissue covered glue onto your face and position it how you want. Once it's on your face you can jab at the edges to make it look more realistic.

STEP 3:
Cover it all with fake theatre blood. Once that has dried a bit, add texture by putting black eyeshadow on the outside and reds and brown eye shadows to create different stages of decay.

And that's it. I did the make-up on my sister a while back just to have a practice. Think is this a really easy and affordable way to do it if you haven't got the time or money to invest in the proper stuff online. I hope you liked this little tutorial and hope you found it helpful!

What are you dressing up as this Halloween?

Why do you wear make-up? TAG

We heart it

I saw this tag pop up on my news feed yesterday by Couture Girl. I'm sure you all know who Kayleigh is, and as soon as I read it, I knew I wanted to do this tag. I love a good tag, who doesn't!? I love being nosey and finding out things about people. If you want to read her answers, you can here. So let's get going....

1. When did you start wearing make-up? Long answer...I first started using a teeny bit of concealer in year 6 (age 10-11). I've always had problimatic skin so my mum used to try and cover up the little spots I had for me. It wasn't until one day, a girl in my class said to me, "You know I can still see your spot?" Was so embarrassing, some girls are just born mean. So I stopped bothering until about year 8 (age 12-13). I used to wear a bit of foundation. Then in year 9 (age 13-14), I always remember my friend Chloe and I used to wear a ton of black eyeliner everyday. My mum hated it and banned me from wearing it so I used to use Chloe's at school and then rub it off on the bus ride home. Of course I didn't fool her. Little did I know back then that eyeliner collects in your lashes. Haha. From then on I just experimented more as I grew up. I went dancing from the age of 3-18 and from about 13 years old, I did all my own stage make-up, so I guess I've just grown up around it. I also remember sneaking into my grandma's bathroom and rummaging through her make-up bag and testing everything out...no one knew that, well they do now! And finally, about 3 years ago I started watching Blair & Elle Folwer on YouTube and got completely hooked. I blame them for my crazy make-up addiction, but thank them for helping me find my passion.

2. How do you feel without make-up? If I have a huge zit on my nose like I do at the moment, I feel grim, but generally I love not wearing make-up. If I have the week off, I'll try not to use any. And if I do need to nip out, I just use concealer where it's needed and mascara and that's it. I think it's really important to let your skin breathe for a while. Clogging it up all the time really isn't healthy.

3. What do I like about make-up? This is a good question. I like that you can enhance your natural beauty. Make-up is just so clever! Such as, you can emphasize your eye colour just by using a certain colour eye shadow, or you can make features appear smaller by highlighting and bronzing. I particularly like that as I have a huge honker (nose) and it does appear slimmer after doing said tip. I also love how it make's a women confident and feel good about themselves. Everyone women deserves to feel good about themselves.

4. Three 'Holy Grail' items: This is extremely tough.

Mascara - I was going to say my Naked 2 palette but when I can't be bothered or I want a natural look, I go straight for mascara. If I'm feeling ill and lazy, I just use mascara. It make's your eyes appears bigger and more alive, even if you don't like it. I'm not fussy with mascaras but for the sake of this question, I would probably choose Clinique High Impact Mascara

Lipbalm - EOS lipbalms are amazing. They smell great, the look cool and they do wonders to my lips. If I get nervous or I'm in deep thought, I nibble my lips, so I constantly need a balm to keep them smooth and looking nice.

MAC select cover-up concealer -  I love this concealer to lighten my dark under eye circles and it also conceals blemishes, so two in one! It's so creamy and doesn't dry my skin out at all. It also gives just the right coverage and you can apply in layers if you so desire!

So that is the end of the tag. I had fun writing this one. I always do with tags. I tag ALL of you to do this! And don't forget to send me a link so I can have a nosey.

Thanks for reading,

xxx

Limited Addition Pink Bubbly Vaseline - Review

I'm a complete sucker for anything limited addition or any new lip balms. I have a huge amount of lip balms from different brands. I think it's so important to keep them looking nice and feeling healthy. I had heard about this new Limited Addition Pink Bubbly Vaseline but couldn't find it in any of the shops near me. A couple of weeks ago I spotted one lonely one in my Superdrug and picked it straight up and took it too the till. All the prices where below....or so I thought.
When I'd paid for it, I checked my receipt after and saw it was £3.49. I probably sound really stingey but considering the others are all under £2.00, I thought this was a bit much. And strike! to Superdrug for not putting the correct pricing labels under their products. I went back in the other day, and they're still not in the right place.

The actual lip balm itself is nice. It's very conditioning and lasts a while on my lips. Makes them really smooth and soft. It's definitely good for this time of year and since this seasons lippy is deep purples, berries and reds, you need soft non-chapped lips in order for it too look nice.

The only down side, to me it smells like lavender and I don't like lavender. I smelt it in the shop and thought it would be ok as it wasn't that strong. But the more I use it, the more over-powering the smell is. And lavender always gives me a headache.

The packaging is very cute and I like that it's called Pink Bubbly but I don't really think it's worth the money. I love the Crème Brule and Coco Butter ones which are under £2.00 and have gorgeous scents and also do the same thing, so I think I'll just stick to them.

Have you used this new Vaseline Lip balm? What do you think of it?

Fanpac - Review

A couple of weeks ago, my mum being the helpful person she is, found out she was serving a regular customer who was a PR, and she gave the lady my card. Cheryl from Velvet PR then got in touch with me and asked if I would like to try out these T-Shirts from Fanpac. I'm a totally sucker for t-shirts like this! If I see any sort of rockish t-shirt such as AC/DC and The Rolling Stones, I'm all over it! Every concert I go to, I also have to buy a t-shirt, so I was really excited to receive these two! I received a Pink Floyd one which is the black one, and the Riders on the Storm which is the white one.

The first thing I noticed straight away was whilst I was ironing them ready to wear. I noticed that there isn't a side seem on either side. This is a total bonus for me. I've noticed that it doesn't matter how much you spend on a t-shirt, the one's with side seems always end up going out of shape and hang weirdly. These one's will not end up doing that at all and I'm so pleased! The quality is also really really good. They are really soft and comfortable to wear. I've actually been wearing the Pink Floyd in bed because it keeps me super warm. I paired the other one with a plaid shirt and really like the look.

I got a size Small which is a little baggy for me, but that's how I like them to look. I'm a size 10 usually so if you're a female who's usually a 6-8, you'll probably find them quite baggy.

The only thing I found wrong with the white t-shirt is that after washing it once, the colour, which is a light brown, has run slightly on the words and on his head. It's hardly noticeable. It was hand washed also, so I'd say just be careful when washing the white ones. The darker colours are fine. They are still just as soft and comfortable as before. I'm really pleased with them.

If you like the look of these t-shirts they are available at www.fanpaconline.com. T-shirts are £19.99 which I think is pretty reasonable considering they will probably last you a long time. They also sell other items such a phone cases and phone socks and other bit and bobs for the rocker inside you.

Whilst browsing the website, I came across an AC/DC iPhone 3GS case for £4.99. Bargain! Yes.....I made a sneaky purchase, but I can tell you the postage was so quick. It took 2 days! Oh! Did I mention the postage is free?! :) My phone case came with two film screen covers which I didn't realize and I really love it. I'm one happy bunny. I've also seen a very cute James Dean t-shirt which I have my eye on ;-) so hurry up pay day!

Have you tried anything from Fanpac? Would you wear these t-shirts?

NOTD - Smokin' Lights

I tweeted a picture of my new nails the other day...I'm 99% sure I did anyway. However, I had to show you my new colours I bought recently, about 2 weeks ago. I actually bought 8 polishes over those last 2 days.... shhhh don't tell my mum....

OPI - The Living Daylights
Essie - Smokin' Hot

I love the OPI chunky glitter one. It's gorgeous! I really have a thing for wearing my nails like this too, alternate colours with a plain polish and a sparkle polish. The Essie one is going to be very loved over the Autumn/Winter season. What do you think? What's your favourite polish for this season?

Halloween Look #2 - Vampire

I created this look for my second Halloween look. Obviously it's a Vampire. Haha. I took pictures before I put the fangs and fake blood on in case you wanted to see just a "Sexy Vampire" make-up look. Everything I used will be listed below.

Face
MAC face & body foundation - C1
MAC select cover up concealer - NW20
MAC studio finish concealer - NW20
Constance Carroll white face powder
ELF  cool bronzer
Snazaroo theatre blood
Vampire Fangs from ebay £1.50 HERE

Eyes
CK one colour smoking palette - used black and cream
Bobbi Brown pro longwear gel liner - Black Ink
MAC engraved eyeliner
MAC cranberry eyeshadow
Avon super shock mascara
DUO adhesive lash glue
Brit Rocks individual lashes

Brows
Loreal brown eyeliner
Natural Collection clear mascara

Lips
MAC lip pencil in Soar
Revlon black cherry lipstick on out corners/edges
Lancome 13 red lipstick in the centre

It took me forever to do the eyes correctly. I'm really happy with the lips. I love how the Black Cherry gradients into the red. The fangs were very easy to apply. I just followed the instructions. You just mix together and stuff it into the fang until it's overflowing and then apply it to the tooth and hold it there fro 3-5 minutes. I was worried it would taste grim but it actually didn't taste of anything to me. Yay!
I hope you like this look! What are you dressing up as for Halloween this year?

My Scrapbook...

The statement in my about me section definitely isn't lying, "Has an unhealthy obsession with fashion magazines..." I easily spend £10-15 every month on fashion magazines. I know that's a lot but I love to see the different trends coming out, and the latest beauty products. A while back, once I'd read them from front to back, I started ripping out all beauty sections to store in my folder for inspiration but I still felt like I was wasting them and kept hoarding them for about 4 months after. I then starting seeing adverts or a fashion campaign photograph that I really liked, or outfits I wanted to try and re-create myself and started pulling them out too. About a month ago, I went to my local Urban Decay stand and saw this little notebook with some pictures stuck in about Urban Decay products and my mum suggested I make a book of my own. So I thought I would share it with you. I'm having so much fun making it. So far it's just Autumn/Winter 2012 and then depending how much room I have, I'll do one for each season. I'm trying to have a range of different things from beauty products, interviews with make-up artists, fashion pages, real lipstick samples drawn on the paper and a Autumn/Winter nail polish sample page too...

Someone decided to be a little pickle and lie across it. Naughty Bobbi.

So that's my inspirational scrap book. I loved doing these sorts of things at school. So fun and a great way to get out as much as you can from the magazine as they definitely aren't cheap. I did a blog post a while back asking people if you think they are worth the splurge or not. You can read that post HERE if you want.

Would you make a scrapbook or have you already? Let me know!
